| Re: Cats cloned to glow red_I'm so furious They've genetically tinkered with so much, it's scary. I had no idea how much genetic engineering was going on until an article was accepted for the Ag. Law Journal and us junior editors to spade (correct mistakes in the citations in the footnotes and double- and triple-check sources to make sure quotes are correct) and they have come up with pigs who excrete less phosphorus in their droppings -- the EnviroPig. It is patented and trademarked for Pete's sake. I remember looking up quotes about how the USDA is going to regulate modified chickens and cattle, and found out more about genetically engineering crops and the problems with just letting people plant them willy-nilly without regard to pollen traveling to normal crops. There's a whole division of the USDA devoted to regulating genetically engineered organisms and several think tanks devoted to the problems caused by these organisms. Plus there are those who sing the praises of playing God with plants and animals. It really scares me. |
