I recently signed up to be a volunteer on the petfinder website, but the only organization that has contacted me so far is a cat rescue that works with petsmart. I don't want to work with them because of this. Can you guys tell me if the response below is too harsh... you know, before I send it to her? --- Thank you very much for the opportunity. However, I don't feel like your organization is a good match for me, due to your ties with Petsmart. I firmly believe that stores like Petsmart don't really care about animals at all and use organizations like yours for good PR. They clearly do not care about animal over-population, since they continue to sell smaller animals such as guinea pigs which also have overpopulation problems. In addition they give harmful care advice, and sell harmful food, bedding and toys to pet owners only to make a profit. I would love to help your rescue. On the other hand I'd hate to do anything to benefit a chain of stores that essentially creates the problem that organizations like yours are trying to address. I'm not saying any of this to lecture you, I just wanted you to understand why I am not accepting your offer. I hope you can at least understand my point of view. Again, thank you very much for the opportunity. |

I think your response is clear and brings up some really good points without sounding rude or judgmental. I think its a very well written response. Good for you for sticking to your values. |

I think it sounds just fine. I don't blame you for feeling that way or not wanting to do anything with that, hopefully they will at least realize Petsmart isn't really helping them out, only making a bigger problem for them. |

Isn't Petfinder run by Petco or something? If so, that's a bit hypocritical, to be rejecting them due to ties w/Petsmart when you found them through Petco... |

Petno is one of their partners along with several other companies. They bought into petfinder awhile ago to buy into their pro adoption propoganda. |

Unlike their adoption days in the store, I don't see how Petco directly profits from the petfinder website. Do you know a reason for me to think otherwise? |
