I was just in watching tv and an alletell wireless cell phone comercial came on. There was this poor guinea pig in a cage not much bigger than itself and the guy opened it and the guinea pig jumped out and started attacking him. What kind of message is that sending out? I was horrified when I saw it! First of all, there was no hay; second, it was in a cage way to small; and third, it gave people the complete wrong idea about guinea pigs and made them look like vicious animals. |

What was it advertising?! Phones? What's that got to do with cavies attacking people? Sounds horrible anyway. |

I just saw this comercial this evening. It upset me too. Not only is all you said true, but one of the guys hit the cage real hard, with the GP in it! I am sure this scared the poor thing to pieces. I have a mind to give Alltell a piece of my mind. |

It showed the guinea pig jumping out of the cage and attacking the guy very feircly when guinea pigs are the complete opposite and are usually lazy bums. |

I'm really surprised by how upset so many people are about the supposed "viciousness" of the guinea pig. They're playing on a well known gag started by Monty Python's killer rabbit -- namely that a small, fluffy creature is actually capable of mass destruction. a.) if people think that guinea pigs will attack them for improper caging, maybe less people will impulse buy them. b.) those people with guinea pigs in cages that size will think twice about the cages they're being kept in c.) when he hits the cage, you notice that the guinea pig is out of frame. He's hitting an empty cage without the guinea pig in it. I really doubt that anyone with an ounce of common sense will believe that guinea pigs can levitate and attack people. |

I saw this commercial too, and Jennicat is right.. The only thing I thought of when seeing the commercial was, 'great, another guinea pig that probably will end up at the shelter..' Maybe someone can email them and ask where the guinea pig is now? Maybe someone from here can adopt him/her if he/she did indeed go to a shelter.. |

| The whole gag of the commercial is that they are obviously taking terrible care of the cavy while thinking that they're treating it wonderfully, which is why it attacks the guy when he opens the cage door. The attack is completely surreal and unbelievable. The cavy is supposed to represent how other phone companies (as opposed to Alltell) mistreat their customers. One of the guys who represents the other phone companies even says something to the effect that the cavy loves it when they control every aspect of its life, just like the customers. I was actually happy to see a commercial pointing out that that sort of cage is unacceptable to keep a guinea pig in. It's a lot better than those stupid Blockbuster commercials that make it seem okay to keep your cavy in the same cage as a rabbit. |

Yea looking at it that way you are right. I was just looking at the aspect that the commercial had a guinea pig in it and didn't pay much attention to what the guys were saying. I'll have to watch it again, hopefully there are more commercials that point the too small cage factor out. |

At first I was thinking OhNo anthor Guinea Pig commercial, but then when I saw the end of it, its not soo bad. I say this becasue the guinea pig attacks the guy becasue it is in a small cage. This may and this is a big maybe help with people keeping the pigs in small cages. |

I actually found the commercial to be funny. The guinea pig attacked because of the small cage and because it was mistreated. Four of the five guys (the ones not being attacked) were defending the little guy. If you watch close you'll see the pig in the cage when the cage gets hit is a fake so someone on set does care about there pig. I do wish all pigs in that situation could attack though, I think he got the message. |
