I saw that. Those people aren't very smart. Everything they were saying was wrong.

Re: How not to house a GP

Um, that water bottle is completely empty. That little yellow thing in it? It's a duck, and it floats on top of the water so you can easily see where the water level is. I guess it doesn't work for stupid people.

They sure do get all the minerals and salt they need from pellets and veggies. She'll end up with pigs with bladder stones.

Honestly, if I watch any more of these Youtube guinea pig abuse videos I'm going to rip out all my hair. It's completely mind blowing.

Re: How not to house a GP

I feel sorry for the guinea pigs. When are people going to learn, or start doing research?! Its mazing how ignorant people can be.

Re: How not to house a GP

The really sad thing is that they could have easily "done their research," at a pet store, online, or with a book, and gotten false information. It would be one thing if people were just ignorant, but even those who try to learn proper care will end up with bad advice from most sources. Which makes me appreciate this site even more!

Ooh, I agree! I love this site and I'm so glad I found it. Because this site my girls have a good cage, a good diet, and they are way happier. If it wasn't for this site they would still be living in a pet store cage with an improper diet of cucumber daily (What I used to do).

Re: How not to house a GP

I haven't seen the video yet (it's not working) but I'd disagree with having anything but water in the bottle. It'd just collect mould and algae over time and not be easy to clean unless you could get it out of the bottle.

Re: How not to house a GP

Oh my goodness. Now I don't have ANY piggies yet but I would never house any animal in something like that. That is horrible. Even if I didn't know about this site my piggies wouldn't be in that kind of situtation. Someone with more knowledge than me needs to send them a letter.

Re: How not to house a GP

I signed up just so I could flag it as inappropriate for graphic violence. It is bad enough that this is how they treat their babies, but then to make a video demonstrating and passing on all that horrible information. Sheeze. For the most part YouTube really .

Re: How not to house a GP

The worst part is that she says the Rabbit carrier can house one piggie. I mean, are you kidding me?! A carrier? Those are suppose to be for transportation, not to live in.

Can I ask what that was? That they need a salt lick? They absolutely do not need salt licks or mineral licks.

She had both hanging from the water bottle that she was going to be including with the piggy for the new owner. She was saying how they HAD to have them. She has them in storage bins, on cedar shavings and has mixed food. The only good thing I saw was that she appeared to have the boys and girls separated. That is if she sexed them right.

Re: How not to house a GP

I saw the video. It's horrid. I was/am still confused by i-love-nev's statement and wanted to get some sort of clarification on what she meant by her reply to what she had quoted.

Re: How not to house a GP

In the video, the girl said that they need the salt licks because it gives them minerals they need that they cannot get from regular veggies. Guinea pigs shouldn't even have salt licks so we thought it was terrible that they think that the salt licks alone provide minerals they need. I hope I explained it a little better
