Will idiots never learn For the past few days, I have been following the story of an idiot who against advice went ahead and bought a pet store pig and after several days of literally freaking out about every move it made, detected a crusty nose and blood on the genitals and returned it to the store where she promptly got another pig. Now there are questions about marking territory because when the pigs are together the new one pees on her. What flipping idiot gets a pig from a store against advice, ditches the pig they "love" when it shows signs of illness (duh), and then gets another that has had contact with the ill one and puts them all together, all against strong advice. She refused medical care to the ill one because an animal should not be sick when purchased (last time I checked nothing breathing could be given a 100% guaruntee) what will happen to the two other pigs should one or both become ill and why do people still coddle and pacify this idiot who needs her butt kicked into tomorrow? Just needed to vent.

Re: Will idiots never learn Got to keep the kids happy, eh? I guessed where you'd been following the story and totally agree with everything you said. I'm sure she is "out back" playing the live or die waiting game. I'm sickened someone would return her knowing that would be her fate. Pleasantly surprised to see that there are no responses to the post in support of what she did. However, not surprisingly, a few aren't too bothered she went and bought another one to replace it.

Re: Will idiots never learn Maybe instead of giving them names, she should call them next, and her hub is a saint, he made her promise to call the pet store every day and check on the old one. Sheeesh, it make me so mad.

Re: Will idiots never learn I've been following that thread too. This is one of the times that they are lucky to have banned me from that forum. I would have had a few colorful things to say.

Re: Will idiots never learn Ugh. I saw this and knew exactly where to look. I gotta admit, that I hope your kids don't get sick... comment was perfect. Some lesson she's teaching her kids.

Re: Will idiots never learn Immediately I read it I actually thought it was a child. I was shocked to see it was an adult with children. Lovely, isn't it, teaching your child that disposable sort of attitude. Wonder if they grow up to do the same in their adult relationships?

Re: Will idiots never learn I'm trying to put things in a manner so that there is a voice of reason and I don't get into trouble, I swear I delete and rewrite the posts over and over to try to get the word across without screaming "YOU ARE THE STUPIDEST PERSON IN THE WHOLE WORLD". So far, many have agreed through e-mail but few through posts of their own.

Re: Will idiots never learn I knew exactly where to look also when I seen this thread. I went over and read it. This person is stupid and uneducated! What would she have done if her kids were sick when they were born, adopted them out, abandon them. If she knew she couldn't afford a vet bill, she should never have bought the pig. I feel sorry for that pig and the rest of her pets. People like this don't deserve any animals.

Re: Will idiots never learn What a stupid person! The reason I bought my first piggy was ,because she was hurt and had been there for weeks without being adopted. -.- Some people never learn.

Re: Will idiots never learn I think when it comes down to it, this person is viewing guinea pigs like the majority of the general public- as cheap, "children's starter pets." Which they are not, by far. Alot of people are just uneducated in many aspects- including petcare. And it is really too bad that poor animals end up in their clutches. Though reading the thread, at least many of the members were informing her of her mistake- maybe she will take the hint, if she has a clue!

Re: Will idiots never learn Sadly, from what I have seen in the past, one person will stick up for them and somehow that will make it ok.

Re: Will idiots never learn That is absolutley outragous. That person should walk around wearing a sign saying "STUPID". How can some say they "love" something and then the next day got and return it. Its like giving up your own child just because he sneezed. Urgh thats just so stupid of that person.

Re: Will idiots never learn Has anyone visited the thread today? She finally wrote back and asked for her membership to be deleted. She felt like she was being slandered because "that isn't what the rest of us would have done." I don't understand that if you love the pig, why in the world would you take it back to the petstore despite what others are telling you the petstore will/will not do? Guess she isn't that knowledgeable yet and haven't done much research.

Re: Will idiots never learn Generally when I ask for advice, it is because I have no clue what I should do. I will usually take the advice of the majority and depending on my feelings will do a bit of research myself. It seems like many people here, GL, CC ask for advice, but already have in their head what to do. It seems like they want to have people backing up their crappy decision and when they dont get that, they get pissed. This women will have problem after problem. WHat happens when the next one gets sick? I have adopted all three of my pigs and I have still spent upwards of $300 on URI's, conjunctivitus, ivermectin and check ups. Anything living is going to need medical care once in a while. Why dont people understand this?

| Re: Will idiots never learn Quote:
Hansel, I am with you on that one. My own mother has that disposable mentality towards animals. Her motto: "People come first." She has urged me (adult to adult now) to "downsize" my menagiere (sp) or tries to suggest that animals are too expensive to own. She is amazed that I am treating my four pigs for mites now. T.C started with them but since I have four piggies in the house, all will get treated. It is an expense I certainly don't need, but hey, I WANTED these four pigs. I take care of and love my pigs on a daily basis. I try to work more hours and buy less material things for myself when these medical emergancies arise. GuineaLynx convinced me to treat my pigs myself with ivermectin. It is a bit daunting (I worry about overdosing them) but it is a whole lot less expensive for me and less stressful for my piggies to treat them at home. |
