Only a heart bigger than "T"'s can accept that companies can make mistakes. Im not asking you to say theyre completely scot free. I think what they did was terrible and I am debating whether or not to go down ther to kick ther @#$ myself (please pardon the french). |

There is a HUGE difference when a company makes a mistake, realizes it and then fixes it. These stupid pet stores continually make mistakes because it is profitable for them to do so. |

Are you kidding?! Oh My. Do you know how many people on this forum and on GL have raised huge stinks about things happening in pet stores? Do you realize how many emails/phone calls to corporate have been made? It is a never ending battle but we continue to do all in our power to make things better. What do you think this forum is about? Educating people about the pet store industry and all of its horrible practices in hopes that the knowledge will spread! Have you looked at Index of /? Dont even tell me for one second that Teresa just "sits and compains and does not do anything"! Good grief. |

There is a new chain of pet stores here in the South called Pet Supermarket. They house buns and pigs together at the store. They have no plans on changing their ways. What does that say to the unknowing buyer? Buns are eating pig food or the pigs are eating bun food. Bad bad bad. |

CM Slave...see this post: http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...hic-photo.html That is the kind of condition Petco leaves their sick animals in...in a back room, alone, dying a slow death. And you want us to have a heart in regards to them? That is not a mistake, or a little boo boo......it is neglect and inhumane treatment. If i kept animals in that condition in my home and law enforcement found out about it, I would be on the 6 pm news! |

One of my best friends worked (finally quit!) at Petsmart and that is how I got that picture of the poor pig in the backroom. I have learned a lot about the awful things they put those animals through. At this particular store they rely on the breeders to sex the piggies, hamsters, mice, etc. And guess what? Those horrid breeders can't even do it right! What a shock! And since it is not a requirement for the employees to know how to properly sex them no one double checks. No one is responsible enough to take it upon themselves to learn. There was a poor female hamster in a cage once with 6 other males! The poor thing was bleeding when they found her and of course had babies in the "backroom." And I am sure that is not the only time it happened. Also, did you know it is a requirement of ALL petsmart stores nationwide to give the cavies oranges EVERYDAY? Romaine, collard greens, mustard greens and the like only 3 times a week. Plus, they have to put vitamin drops in their water. Now if this is just one store, and the top "specialty" store in the district according to them, how can you not refer to them as "Petstupid." They are horrible. |

I find this very strange, just personally working with a rescue, because I know that we keep as a sanctuary animal any pig or rabbit that seems like it's going to have long term health issues -or- we find them a long-term foster situation where we can deal with it's health problems. We have a boar that had a mammary tumor removed about 2 years ago that is now perfectly fine that we don't adopt out because the tumor might reoccur. We go out of our way not to adopt out sick pigs, even if there's only a chance that they might be sick in the future. |

A.) The sick animals in the back room at PetSmart most certainly do recieve medication. B.) PetSmarts are required to give oranges to the pigs nationwide? I can't speak for any other store but mine, but we've never given oranges to them. They do get carrots though. C.) Normaly no drops are put in any of the water. There is a current exception at the moment because one/some stores recieved animals that had salmonella. The Corp has everyone putting some drops in the water to treat any others that might have it. |

How do drops in the water prevent salmonella? So you're confirming that Petsmart regularly has sick animals? |
