If you really cared about animals, you wouldn't just stop them from fighting in overcrowded cages; you'd find a better place from which to collect a paycheck.

I do agree the actions were sickening, I just said I didn't think you should call them sickening. Their actions were, not them.
I don't quite see the distinction, myself. If you don't judge someone on their actions, then what do you judge them on? Are people to be considered independently from their actions? That makes no sense.

It's a moot point anyways - the original poster and his "wife" (or alter-ego ?) have been banned.

That would explain why is "wife" thought women should agree with what there husbands say and have no opinion of thier own.

And, I think anyone who can watch animals kill eachother for 10 minutes and not get help is sick, sorry if you disagree.

Re: Killer hamsters at Petsmart

I agree it is sickening. I just went and watched the video again, and turned my volume up. You can here someone (sounds like whoever is recording) say "They're eating his face!" near the end of the video. So much for not realising what was going on. Does anyone know anything about YouTube policies? I flagged the video as inappropriate, but I don't know if it technically violates any of their rules. I don't think videos of cruelty to animals should be allowed.

Saddam Hussein's hanging is all over YouTube. I doubt flagging that other video will make much of a difference. *don't mean to sound negative* Thats just how it is on YouTube.

Re: Killer hamsters at Petsmart

YouTube cites the First Amendment as a reason for not removing anything from their website. Doesn't matter if it's animal cruelty, a hanging, or showing people how to break into houses.

Re: Killer hamsters at Petsmart

The YouTube community guidelines are at this page: YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

On that page, it says: "Don't post videos showing dangerous or illegal acts, like animal abuse or bomb making."

There are rules on YouTube, I think it is just up to the members to help make sure they are enforced.

Re: Killer hamsters at Petsmart

Huh. Things must have changed since Google (was it Google?) bought them out. They won a case against a woman by claiming freedom of press. Some burglar broke into her house after learning how to key bump a lock open from a video there. She sued them for allowing the video to be there. I don't think they should have won; I hardly consider YouTube to be a member of the press. The press reports news; it's not just a collection of people who put up videos.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Its not like i went to a mill and taped them abusing animals and didnt say anything.
You enjoy watching animals fight? I seriously want to puke all over the screen.

Re: Killer hamsters at Petsmart

I've tried to stay out of this for as long as I could, but I cant help myself. Being that I do work in pet care in petsmart, I have seen the condidtion of our animals when they come in. Thats why i'm trying to find a new job (After petsmart, I will never work at a petstore again) My co-workers simply do not care about them...i'm guessing those hamsters were fighting because they were either from different groups and the associates mixed them together or the hamster had wetail and the other ones knew it was dying.

Hamsters are the most mistreated animals because they are considered "throw away" pets. Families come in to get their kids hamsters for their birthday and they say to their kids "this is your responsibility, not mine" How can parents be so irresponsible? Thats why I try talk them out of even thinking about buying a small pet. Then the kids complain, the parents complain, and I HAVE to sell them the hamster because the kid just has to have one. Then after the hamster is in its box ready to go home, I show the "pet parents" everything they need for the hamster. They then complain about the cost and try to get the cheapest things possible..."Vitacraft is 3.99, ok well get this one...this cage is 15.99, its a little bit small, but we'll upgrade IF we need to (uh, yay right)" I cant take it anymore...I already have applications out to 5 different places anymore.

Hamsters deserve way better. My co-workers put hamsters in our sick room with wettail "up, their going to die" without a care in the world. I try my hardest to help these poor little hamsters pull through. I give them block, oats, and carrots...I feed them water through a syringe, my co-workers ask "why, they wont remember anyways" Our banfield refuses to see our hamsters, were not allowd to use dritail anymore, so pretty much these hamsters are on their own. I'm sick and tired of how petstore animal are treated...its utterly disquesting. And once i'm out of there, I will turn my store in, I will start my own rescue, and I will help these poor helpless animals find a good home.

Don't wait, turn them in now. You can do it anonymously.

I don't know if the laws there are hugely different from here but here it is illegal not to get treatment for a sick animal, be it a pet owner or a pet store.

I went to "petshop" today. I went to the guinea pig area and they had 3 medium size guinea pigs in a small tank...it wasen't even big enough for one piggie.

Re: Killer hamsters at Petsmart

Since we are on the subject of horrible videos I'll bring this up here;
I was browsing youtube today and found a VERY disturbing video. Its in Peru, it shows how they kill and cook the poor piggies. I seriously burst into tears. Here is the link YouTube - Puesto cuyes Happy Cuy but please be aware that its very powerful and sad..you can hear the piggies scream. What angers me the most is that some one commented on there saying "those who aren't from Peru will get disgusted by this. They don't know what they are missing!"
