You guys need to *not* use each other's user IDs. It's not fair to the other members, as they have no idea which individual is using which user ID, and thus have no idea whom they are replying to. Unless you want to have your two IDs merged into one, then only post as yourself, please. (yes, yes, I realize that you stated it was an accident, but don't let an accident like that happen again. Thank you.) |

I too have demanded (loudly) the attention of a staff person in petstore for much less. It is appalling that you were not more insistent on being heard. That poor animal suffered because of your slothish reactions and you taped it. Thank you VJ for sending it to the company, hopefully someone will be proactive on their end. You should have spoke loudler and more firmly. Animals may react instinctually to illness or weakness amongest themselves but as the "more intelligent" species, it is our responsibilty to to play moderator to domestic species. I would have dragged someone over if need be. |

Well I am not a animal advocate and sometimes I enjoy a good fight among animals. I am not one of those people that will make a scene unless I feel that it is nessacary. I got there when the store opened, I had to work all night and I definately didn't feel like argueing with someone that felt that the animals where in a "good" enviroment. So what if i taped it. Its not like i went to a mill and taped them abusing animals and didnt say anything. |

| Ok, now after reading you last post, I take back everything I said in defence of you. So you don't care if animals are tearing each other apart? "I enjoy a good fight among animals. I am not one of those people that will make a scene unless I feel that it is nessacary." Thats disgusting. You like watching animals fight?!? And you didn't feel that hamsters ganging up on another one and basically killing it was not enough to make a scene? Goodness knows, I've gotten thrown out of a pet store for making a fuss about the conditions of a guinea pig cage. Apparently I was "too loud". This was after the manager told me all knowingly that "Guinea pigs love excerise wheels". Ok, so you said that you went to petsmart to complain on Christmas eve. What made you think that the store owner would listen to you on Christmas eve if she didn't listen to you when it was actually happening? It's kind of a bit late to go back AFTER it's happened and complain, when you were there as it was happening. |

As far as being an "animal advocate"? My mother doesn't even LIKE animals, and has stopped far less gruesome behavior in Walmart and pet stores. You don't have to be an animal advocate to have basic compassion for other living things. |

Hamsters arent people. They like to kill the weak, I have seen this before. Im not going to keep arguing about this when you are all to closed minded to get it. I went to talke to the STORE manager. NOT THE AREA SUPERVISOR, that was there when I saw this. I have seen dogs kill each other in the street but that was a different country and Im not going to go into that. |

What statement? That they do things that we dont like? Let me purpose a scenrio to you; You are walking through the woods, You hear a noise. Upon arrival, you see two black bears fighting. One seems to be fatally wounded. Are you going to A) Jump in and stop it, B) Let it go, and go about your way, C) Watch and hope you dont get dragged into it. |

The statement that they "like" to kill the weak. Instinct is not something they have a whole lot choice about, being hamsters and not people, as you pointed out posts above. Your scenario is ridiculous and does not compare with what was going on. First of all, the bears are in their natural habitat. They can get away from each other. A group of hamsters in less than a 10 gallon tank cannot. They are stuck in an area much smaller than what they would occupy "in the wild". Second of all, I could be killed trying to separate a bear fight (which is happening in the wild), and so it is nothing like a hamster fight. You can't personally tell me that you were sitting there, terrified to separate the hamsters because they could kill you, were you? Were you sitting there, terrified with your cell phone camera, knowing that any minute they might burst through the glass and drag you into the fight? Finally, the bear fight is not happening because of humans. The hamster fight is. Were the store not overstocked and treating their animals inappropriately, the hamsters wouldn't be fighting. |

Jthoker - Your attitude sickens me. As a Christmas Gift to the entire forum I am putting you on moderated posts. You are no longer welcome to post in any heated debates. It is likely the owner of the site will want to give everyone a bigger gift and ban you. Personally, that is a treat I would like to find in my stocking. |

Would just like to add that it's one thing to say you watched a fight and come up with a bunch of reasons as to why they happen. It's something else altogether to actually admit that you enjoy them. |

Humans have free will and can give informed consent to box. They also have rules and referees. Or was there a tiny hamster referee too? |

I am moderating your account as well since your husband has already been known to use your account and may be right now. You also seem to back up his sick opinions and ideals just by defending him here after he made such hideous comments. |

Of course I back him up.. he is my husband. Wow. Would you stop loving your husband, wife, mother, father, brother, sister because of dumb little things like this?? If so, that's pretty sad and pathetic. My husband has never purposly used my account. It's the fact that you guys have that "remember me" thing on a lot so sometimes when he goes to this site it's logged on to my name for some reason. If you don't like that then maybe you should take that function off of your site, because it tends to get annoying. All of the hampsters were fighting at first. It was their free will.. if they didn't want to fight eachother they wouldn't of been. Ultimate fighting gets pretty intense also. My point with that was theres a TON of people out there that find fighting intertaining. Not just my husband. I know many many many guys that love that kind of thing. Kind of like a sport. I'm sure when those guys are all bloody in ultimate fighting they want it to stop too when its happening, but it can't. As soon as he saw that it was going too far, he DID want it to stop. If he didn't care he wouldn't of got help at all, don't you think?? |

Was it their own free will to be in an enclosure smaller than your average goldfish bowl, subjecting them to unimaginable levels of stress? Instinct tells them to defend themselves in such an un-natural, cramped, stress-ridden, competitive-for-space situation. Please, defend the pet shop now. |
