A judge sentenced a Miramar man to three years in prison Wednesday for hurling his son's 8-week-old black Labrador puppy off a fifth-story balcony to its death.

That's quite gruesome. I do agree with the sentence but I'm not sure I would want someone like this helping out at a Humane Society.

Thats good I'm happy he was charged. I feel bad for that son, what a bad thing to happen to a kid.

Only 3 years?The poor puppy...That makes me feel really sick.Just imagine that,a simple argument between father and son,the dog had nothing to do that!That is cruel.

My friend and think this very curel. He should not be doing community sevice in a SPCA maybe somewhere else. Acuualy he should have a longer punshment for this that 3 years maybe 5..

Honestly, if that guy gets out of prison, it won't matter where he does his volunteer time. You can find murderers, rapists, armed robbers and the like in prison, but the one thing most of them have in common is that what they do, they do to adults, and they will NOT tolerate people who harm kids or animals. Frankly, I pity him not only for his cruelty and ignorance, but for what he is likely to endure from the other prisoners once they find out why he is there.

A 3 year sentance is not alot but it is a HUGE step in the laws and punishment for animal cruelty. Often people convicted of animal cruelty/neglect get much less prison time are mostly just fined and have to do community service.

I think the idea of him doing community service at the SPCA is a great idea. It's not like he will get left alone to harm more animals. Because of his record they will keep an eye on him but he will get to witness first hand animal suffering and perhaps he will learn a bit of compassion and respect while he's there.
