I was going to split the thread anyway, and got sidetracked.

But why do you have a problem having conversations with people who are technically 'children' but conduct themselves in a mature and adult manner?
I don't have a problem with that. Otherwise, I never would have started this forum.

I desire to have some conversations and debates with adults. I just don't get why that's so hard to understand. And contrary to what everyone seems to assume, there is a difference in dialog with our very mature younger members and our 'older' members. Despite the internet adding anonymity to our identities, it does not change you.

Re: Bless the Shelter Workers for they shall inherit the earth

I understand what you are getting at but I think you are going to have a very hard time pinning down an age to the life experience level of the people you desire to talk to.

It's not so much a magic number you are looking for, it's a certain type of street smarts and common sense you seem to be desiring. An understanding of how the world works that is acquired when one has to actually provide for and be responsible for one's own self.

There is no age this happens at. The type of conversation you seek may not always be acquired from one who is 21+, 25+ and even 60+. It is not something that magically happens at 25. It is something that is earned.

I sense that you are going to have a hard time finding the type of conversation you want. Especially since not everybody becomes an adult at the same time. I stopped considering myself a teen long ago, yet I'm only 22. As Percy's Mom would say "Hardly past a teenager".

I think that is the root of what gets to me in this thread. I never really got to be a teenager. So I guess in a way I kinda resent those older people on this thread or thinking they have some magical thing I don't. I know it's my issue and my issue alone to work through. And it's way more then this board that has resulted in this issue. But I have the feeling that I may not be the only person who is feeling it in this thread and would like to give voice to a point of view that many of us younger members seem to be struggling with.
Thank you Sabriel for this useful post, says:

Well, thanks for telling me the way the world of maturity works. Actually, I'm not looking for any type of conversation. You all are making it more complicated than it is and making way too assumptions.

That is definitely your issue.

I give up.

And I'm closing the thread. Status quo, except I'm going add some kind of restriction to the Kitchen.
