Happy Pets, dutch online shop!

I was looking around for online dutch webshops to see if I could find any handy stuff for our pigs, when I got to this one website called Happy Pets Specialist webpage(Happy pets dierenspeciaalzaak) Happy Pets dierenspeciaalzaak, een uitgebreid en uniek assortiment dierbenodigdheden voor hond, kat, fret, konijn en knaagdier (Dutch). So First thing I did was go to the guinea pig section and look at the cages and I was absolutely disgusted of what I saw there, The first cage on there:

It's a frikkin hamster cage! And they say it's a cage for the Spoiled Guinea pig! Costing 58 euro's!!!! It's sickening!

Then this one, They say it's great because your house won't get messy from the shavings....Yes because it's an aquarium for a gold fish! Costing 35 euro's!

Absolutely horrifiying, and this is what you will find in most dutch petshops both in real life and online, how can we possibly stop the guinea pig abuse here in holland?

WOW, those cages are incredibly small, you couldn't even fit a hidey house in there. I wouldn't keep a hamster in one of those. I don't see how any one could think those cages are o.k.

But they did have some bigger size cages.

Yeah, I could probably fit a few of those in my XL Pigloo.

Ye they did have bigger cages but those aspecially assigned for guinea pigs looked like that! Those guinea pigs would have to struggle to even turn around in there let alone live. I mean how can you sell something like that, it would be like living in your toiletroom so small.

I'm happy too announce that the webshop owner of Happy Pets has contacted me on this forum and will be Taking Down the Cages from the sales!!

We are now negotiating about improvements of the things sold there and I suggested helping them becoming the best guineapig webshop in the netherlands with proper information and materials for making a good guinea pig environment.

Let's hope for the best shall we!

That's great news. The cages are really tiny, I should think a pig could take a few steps and lie down

It is good that you spoke to them about it and they're changing their ways, it's better to educate them than just moan about it. I think it would be really cool and good for their company if they became the best place for guinea pig care in your country.

Well, I e-mailed them a bunch of information on guinea pigs and their needs and I haven't had a reply yet, But they did take the cages off the sales so that's a great thing!
