Gross Pet store :(

I live in a pretty small town, and I'm not sure what resources there are, if any.... but I need some suggestions on where/how I would go about reporting a Pet Store?

A friend of mine just called disgusted. There is a small non-chain pet store in Senatobia, MS (I'm not sure of the name of it just yet, I've never been there) that she went in to see about some gp supplies. She said the fish tanks were solid green with dead fish floating in them with the live ones. On the front door step they had cages with rabbits in them...the cages were filthy and stunk, and the rabbits all had big pink raw spots on their backs. Inside she had a baby guinea pig in a tiny cardboard box! with a plastic lid slid down inside over it. ( a tiny cardboard box is bad enough, but the plastic over it allows no ventilation!)
She said it was just hideous. The whole place reaks form filthy cages and tanks.
I think I may drive into town tomm and take a look at the place myself (and see if I can get away with snapping some pics), and I'd like to report them if it's possible once I see it for myself and get an idea of what is going on there.

Thanks for any help you can give me!
Tina

Re: Gross Pet store :(

Call the Humane Society, SPCA, Agricultural department, Health Dept. and/or anyone else you need to to report this situation. By the sounds of it this store is grossly abusing and neglecting the animals and could be a health hazard for humans as well.

If you can go there with a camera and take pictures to forward to the agencies I listed that would be great.

Get us the name and address of this store along with pictures if you take them and maybe we can put some pressure on them as well.

Re: Gross Pet store :(

Will do Voodoo, thanks! I'm going to try to drive over tomm and check it out, I'll update when I see it.

She said the urine smell was so strong when you walked inside that it would gag you. Stupid people!!

Edited to say, she said the box that the baby gp was in, was one of those coke case boxes... I'm wondering where the water and stuff was if it was in such crapty housing!
