Rescue wanting to rehome guinea with rabbit. Well I never thought I'd see it but I have. A rescue center we had some guineas off last year has a guinea on their small animals for rehoming section and are wanting to rehome it with not 1 but 2 rabbits! The guinea-George, is at the bottom of this page and the rabbits on the previous and next page. RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Branch :: Adopting Small Animals, Bird or Exotics :: The thing thats looks odd is they say they want to rehome the rabbits together with possibly the guinea to. I dont get why they have put possibly on it Ive sent them an e-mail saying guineas and rabbits are a no no, no matter what the situation is and explained that a rabbit can kill or seriously harm a guinea. Anyone els want to send them an e-mail with more info in as I ccant thik of what els to say. and its the RSPCA that are trying to rehome the guinea with possibly the rabbits

Re: Rescue wanting to rehome guinea with rabbit. I take it Bambi and Holly are the rabbits? Haven't time to check it out. I truly despair that the RSPCA are giving out such antiquated advice... Well done you for emailing them, let us know if you get a response. Barbara

Re: Rescue wanting to rehome guinea with rabbit. Here is the reply I got. Thank you for your E.Mail regarding the re homing of the two lion headed rabbits from the centre with the Guinea pig George. As the RSPCA we are fully aware that guinea pigs and rabbits should not be re-homed together however with these three the circumstances are slightly different. My name is Richard and i am the Animal Centre Manager and these three animals were my own personnel pets before unfortunately my wife and i divorced. I now live in a flat and i was unable to take the animals with me as my private landlord will not allow pets. Bambi Holly and George were all living together when i took them on and although the situation was not ideal George was very dependant on the rabbits so i allowed the arrangements to carry on. As time went on all three animals got on very well and we would regularly see the rabbits grooming the guinea pig. When the animals came into the centre because they were so reliant on each other i requested that they be re homed as a group. I understand that the situation is not ideal but on this occasion i felt that the upset and trauma that would be caused far out weighed the risks. Hope this explains things a little better . So if they knew it wanst a good idea why house them together in the first place?

Re: Rescue wanting to rehome guinea with rabbit. It sounds like he has the best intentions in his mind, but unfortunately he doesn't realise the pigs death can be accidental. The rabbit may not chose to hurt him, he's just better equipped with his hind legs than the poor piggy.
