Ebay guide to Pigs

Ebay has a "guide" to guinea pigs called "So, Your thinking about getting a Pet Guinea Pig/Cavy?"
It has some pretty terrible advice, such as suggesting that guinea pigs can be kept in rubbermaid bins.
I've emailed the lady who writes it and she naturally seems very resistent. So if anyone else would like to take a look at it and see what you guys think, her user name is 0828dawn or you can search for "guinea pig" and the guide will come up.

What on earth are rubbermaid bins?!? they sound awful just from the bin bit.

Problem is it takes a big person to admit they are wrong and most are not sadly, I hope she listens to your advice, even if she does not admit to it.

Re: Ebay guide to Pigs

They're plastic storage containers. Rubbermaid is a brand name.

Maybe someone from here could write a guide of their own as an alternative to that one. I'd do it but I'm not a very frequent ebayer, so maybe if someone who used to frequently wrote one it would seem more reliable.

Well to give you an image Rubbermaid tubs/bins are what I kept my legos in as a child, they are pretty much very durable giant tupperware.

And can you post a direct link to the guide, I can't find it.

Re: Ebay guide to Pigs

I agree with Trekkie. I don't like the whole idea of using rubbmaid for a home, but when I read through it a lot of what she was saying was good advice.

Re: Ebay guide to Pigs

It's definitely not the most horrible thing I've ever read. True, using the Rubbermaid container for a home isn't a good idea, and the pumice stone is definitely a bad idea, but those are the only two things I noticed that are really off.

Re: Ebay guide to Pigs

Funny, she mentions that 7.5 sq. feet is good and 10 feet is better, AND she mentions a Rubbvermaid container. I want to know where is the world you would ever even find a Rubbermaid container that big.

Anyway...I agree with those above. Really only 2 things wrong.

Yea, I guess it's not too bad. I wish it was pro-rescue though.
