"No more homeless animals day" in Tucson, AZ Well I was just reading my weekly PETA e-newsletter and they had a link to the official declaration for August 19th in Tucson, AZ! Mayor Proclaims Aug. 19, No More Homeless Animals Day How cool is that?!? What a great way for a city to officially call attention to the problem of animal over-population! It would be great if this idea could spread and more of us could convince our city's councillors that this is a worthy cause! Just wanted to share it since it made me smile today! There are so many sad stories that hearing happy ones like this and Weaver's 2 new rescued piggies (how great is that!??) make lessen the pain of the hard stuff. Yay!

Re: "No more homeless animals day" in Tucson, AZ I would bring this to my councillor's attention but I think he would tell me they want to work on "No more homeless people" first. Our homeless people population is pretty bad here though. Edit: I do want to add that this is a wonderful cause and if I ever move to a smaller city with less of a homeless crisis I will bring this up after I vote.

Re: "No more homeless animals day" in Tucson, AZ We have alot of homeless in Tucson also. Just to add, on Sunday, it is adopt a pet day with the Humane Society being on a local TV station most of the day. You can adopt or you can make a pledge. There a many radio and TV people here in Tucson that supports the Humane Society. Every day on the radio and TV is pet of the day. There are fundraisers and adopt a pet all thru the year.

Re: "No more homeless animals day" in Tucson, AZ That is great Tucson is bringing attention to the animal issue. Glad to live here. I was at the Pima County Animal Care yesterday getting dog licenses for a couple of my dogs. There were many people looking and adopting. I have not seen it that busy in a long time. I was very glad to see it. My youngest kept asking me to go see the dogs. I stuck to my guns and said no since I knew I could not say no to a sweet face in the cages. I thought to myself, I have to leave them there to make another home a happy home. Mine is up to the limits. It is hard have already adopted all you can and your heart still wants more. I know better though. I have to take care of who I have right now and I have a wonderful animal family.
