County fair petting zoo (MI)

So, I am on vacation in Michigan right now and having a great time We decided to go toa small county fair and when my dad mentioned a petting zoo, my mom gave me an evil look which meant 'don't go all animal rights on me'. Well . . .we got there and i made a bee line to the petting zoo and when i saw that all of the small horses and goats were is perfect condition, i was a bit relieved. Then, i saw the bunnies and chicks and pig. ahhhhhh. It wasn't good. They had very young chicks in a horribly small cae that they were selling for only $5 each!!! They had a young potbellied pig for $50 and the worst were the rabbits. There were three of them in a horrible wire bottom cage. Each was just $5!!! I was livid. They were in the shade where it was't too hot, but just that they were selling very these small animals that required tons of care for just 5 measley dollars made me sick to my stomache,

I had plenty of money to buy all three of them, but i knew if i bought them without my mom's consent, they would just end up back in the cage a few minutes later. I asked my mom if i could get them, but she didnt consent and i just had to stand their and watch two of the three bunnies be sold to ignorant families.

If i was three years older, i would have been able to take the bunnies out of that horrible situation!!!

Maybe the families will turn out to be great, and hopefully they will research and find more info on bunnies. I knew nothing about guinea's before I got mine and found this site. And now my guys have a 3x4 grid cage and everything else recommended on here.

If you see some one purchasing a rabbit, see if you can tactfully suggest that they check out the House Rabbit Society website:

House Rabbit Society Rabbit Care Guide

( the actual URL is www . rabbit.org I put in spaces around the dot so it wouldn't be converted)

They have a ton of information as to the care of rabbits as well as help in finding a good vet and supplies for bunnies.
