Good news

Our local pet selling pet shop has had to close down - due to lack of sales!

The man was an idiot, which probably did help in the lack of sales, he would leave the poor bunnies and guinea pigs outside in the burning sun with no protection!

Well thankgoodness he is gone, just another few billion to go!

Re: Good news

It's always such a relief when a pet store like that closes down. We had one in a mall many years ago that was just horrible. People were constantly calling the humane society to report them. I went in many times to let them know animals in the window were out of water or food, or that they looked sick. I think there was even a dead hamster once. They had a parrot with a beak so overgrown I don't know how the poor thing ate. Finally, they got enough evidence and shut it down. The owner's house was full of puppies and dogs that he couldn't sell, all living in filthy conditions. Fortunately, I've never seen another store even close to that bad.
I really don't understand why pet stores even bother carrying animals. The real profit is in the equipment and accessories, not the actual pet. If they would all just do adoptions, it would probably actually save them money in the long run, since they wouldn't need to pay to ship in animals!

You took the words right off of my fingertips. I agree with you 1000%. I think Petco and PetSmart have the right idea with the dogs and cats, but they really need to expand the idea to the small animals too. Quit selling and start adopting.
We should start a slogan to quit selling and start adopting and post it all over pet stores. Wouldn't that be fun.
