What's the pet store owners motive?! I've been told by numerous people on these forums that piggies need hay 24/7. This morning, I mentioned to my local pet store owner that I was told that and he said " They enjoy eating it more then they need to, so it should be used as a supplement to their regular pelleted food." Basically he's telling me you guys/girls are wrong!!! Dont worry though cuz I will take the advice of other cavy owner's over a store owner, but why is he telling me this when he could be encouraging me to buy more to "better profit his store"? I dont understand.

Re: What's the pet store owners motive?! I don't know. Maybe he makes more money off of pellets than he does from hay, so he wants you to buy more pellets?

Re: What's the pet store owners motive?! The motive? That's easy. It's called money. The more he can make the happier he is. I also bet he is selling you some crappy pellet mix that you don't even need too. Hay is an absolute must in a guinea pigs diet. They need it to wear their molars down and to aid in digestion.
