Re: Registered Breeders and rescues

CCC, Aussies call thin chips "French Fries" (That's the Mcdonalds coming out in the name)

And chips, are thicker and are what you get from from say, a fish & chip shop.

We also have the "Crisps", but we call them chips as well.

(PS, wow is this getting off topic)

Re: Registered Breeders and rescues

If you put a monkey in that kind of cage it's called simply a cage at that point.

I've seen those used for cages in those ma and pa zoos. No one called the monkey cage an aviary.

Like I said, a library without books is just a room with a lot of shelves.

Aertyn, that's what it's like up here. We also have "home fries". Those little squares of battered potatoe that you can get with breakfast.

The original point this this post has yet to be addressed. Fluffball hasn't posted an answer to T's question. What rescues are advocating getting a guinea from a breeder?
I would like to hear the answer to this question myself.

This thread is starting to go way . If you want to discuss cultural differences, start a thread in general chat. Please get back on topic. And the topic is not whether enchantingcavy has an aviary or a caviary or a shed or 6 flying monkeys. It's about rescues advocating to get pigs from a breeder if there are none in the rescue.

Re: Registered Breeders and rescues

Sorry all. Tried to reply sooner but been having alot of family issues to deal with.

Thankyou for giving me some options. The owner does not breed or show but still recommended breeders. I was looking forward to adopting from there but when I saw their statement I opted not too. Ive also seen another rescue being recommended by registered breeders. Although their site was last updated in 2005 I still believe if you rescue guinea pigs, then let that be all there is too it.

Pm me Teresa and mods if you would like the details. I dont want to make their name public as it would cause more fighting I think.

Ive placed an advertisement in the local paper. The only problem is some breeders have been responding trying to get me to buy off them. Ive changed the advertisement now and putting it in tomorrow requesting no breeders contact me. Theres no guinea pigs in the NSW RSPCA directory, but ill keep a look out. I was thinking of adopting from jess (thankyou again for the offer) but thats a last option. Id rather get a guinea pig closer to home if I can.

Lastly Jess your doing an amazing job. In 6 years time when im a qualified vet (hopefully) I plan on opening up a rescue here in Sydney. I will also rehome dogs and cats that will be saved from death row.
