There is a pet store in Oakville Ontario , i went there last thursday with my brother it has always been a horrible place we went there this time and here is a list of things we found

• A ferret in a cage with mold and eating the wrong food , the coat was not soft it was all dry , it had hanging beds in its cage but no ladders to get up there
• A baby ferrets cage with 2 babies indside with bedding the bad bedding
• Guinea pigs cage bowl for water had poop and shavings in it i told them they should change it or clean it or get a water bottle they said it was fine
• The dogs in little tiny boxed places where there would be 4 almost fulyl grown dogs sleeping and eating litterally in there own poop
• The birds were just doing what ever they wanted they werent encloused at the store they said careful the birds may bite
• The employees they just went into the back of the store and left the customer to them selfs
• my friend bought some turtles from them and one of them turned out to be deaf and blind

My brother later called the humanes society and they put in a report my brother later called and they said that they can not close the store down unless there are other complants. Im asking if people who live in this area could just stop by the store them selfs to see what it is like and report it . With the ferret that was in the cage with the mold it nails were extremely long that im sure it hurt to walk on them. My sister also went there once and found a dead lizard in the fish tank which is quite common and then she came back a week later and the exact same lizard was in there. My brother rescued a ferret from there also they were feeding it human lunches such as hamburgers.

I wish I was close enough to see it and report it, but I'm never anywhere near Oakville. If I had a car I'd drive out there to help.

I hope it gets closed down soon.

I am so happy i just heard some fantastic news this pet store i was telling you about in oakville it's on cross avenue and its called pets and more. It is finally closed down They are giving away free kittens dogs for like $ 100 and really cheap and cages and everything. I just hope everyone buys the animals.

That IS good news, those conditions sound really horrible. And right in our own backyard too.

How can you give away free animals for $100. I guess I don't understand your post. Also if people "buy" the animals, they are still supporting the petstore. If no one buys them, they will go to the shelter where they can be adopted.

I think the kittens are free, but they charge for other animals.

While it is good news that it is getting shut down, it goes without saying that I hope only genuine people take on the animals. They should go to a shelter if they don't get "bought", but if they treated the animals like that in their "care" then who knows what they might do if they can't "sell" all of the animals? I'm unaware of any laws in the US about this kind of thing.

They sell dogs and cats in petstores? Is that an american thing, over here in the UK dogs and cats are not allowed to be sold in petstores!
That sounds like awful conditions that those poor animals were living in. Sadly free kittens may not go to the best homes....but hopefully they will.

I am glad to hear that they are shutting down, prompted by the humane society or not! It sounds like they did themselves in.

I agree it would be better if no one "bought" any of the animals, however at least it sounds like these people will not be selling anymore, one way or another, the cycle of abuse is stopped!

Sorry i will correct that the kittens are free and the dogs are just cheaper some starting at $ 100. The humane society finally shut it down after so many complants. Thank goodness in some ways. They also have guinea pigs.

Thats horrible no animal should be in those kinds of conditions. If I lived there I would check it out and report them. And I do hope that everyone buys the animals and takes them to a humane place to live instead of poop.

Ah geez, I knew that was a given... but seeing you type it out, I hurt for these sale pigs, odds are they will end up snake food if the discount on them gets too big!

I understand that even now it isn't a good idea to "buy" them from the store, but I don't think Oakville humane is really prepared to take in all their animals if there are no takers. They probably perfer the store "sells" them then dumps them on them, otherwise I can't help but think they would have seized at least some of the dogs and cats?

Poor piggies, if there ever was a sacrificial "pig" for the cause, it is these little guys!

Well, if Oakville does take them in, I will let you know on Friday when I volunteer for them. Though they do have a policy that they only take in animals if they have room, and space is pretty tight in there right now.
