Starter Package

Hey All

I was going through my supershopper, the local buy trade and sell classideds mag. As I was trying to find my friend a rabbit I came accross this:

"Guinea Pigs, adults and babies, smooth and crested, 13 available, could be great breeder starter package"

As I found out this is in the mag every week.

They live in Barrie(about half an hour drive from were I live), I guess I was being a little naive to think that it didnt happen around me. I guess I just really didnt want it to be around me, so I didnt look!

Re: Starter Package

That's sad. The piggies are probably all related too.

Re: Starter Package

Want to make a difference - even if only by planting a seed?

Call them!

Talk to them about the truth behind breeding GP's and overpopulation.

Re: Starter Package

That is unfortunate.

I may be a chicken, but I'm never scared when it comes to educating people and saving the lives of innocent animals.

Re: Starter Package

If your friend is still trying to find a rabbit, please take a look at:

www.Rabbit.org They have a list of local HRS chapters, that can help you find a bunny looking for a home.

Also take a look at www.Petfinder.com

Good luck!

Re: Starter Package

Rabbit Rescue is an Ontario rabbit organization, very reputable. They work out of Georgetown (Brampton) But I am sure they have fosters north of the city as well.

I believe it is www.rabbitrescue.org
They are on Petfinder too.

Have you tried a reverse look up on the phone number? If it is a small residental thing, you may get an address, and then you could write to them. Or, why not write an editorial into your local newspaper about breeding small animals?

Smitti - Block your phone number, give them a different name than your own....you dont have to be yourself on the phone. Pretend you are someone else! Get out of character and let'em have it!!! Break out of that shyness and tell them what you really want to. It may make a difference......and getting a little bit boisterous every now and again is VERY therapudic! ha ha ha

Unhappy Re: Starter Package

i actully bought my 2nd piggie from what i though was a good breeder, boy i got there i was horified i wanted to take them all, 50+ 3-5 in those see through clear plastic bins. the one i did get spunky i had 2 days and i was heart broken she was scratching her self till she bled, hair started to fall out in chunks, i took her the vet, she had advanced mites had to go back for shots 4 times and i felt bad cause my other pig at the time, did not want her to get it, so they both got shots, oh their little scream was so loud it looked like it hurt but it was just the vet pulling there scruff that made them scream. but to this day i still see his ad in the paper. i want to call the guy and yell at him, then call the spca or something.
she is all better now. and very happy popcorning.
