I was reading the paper yesterday when I came across an article saying "pets kicked to death by thugs". Three teenagers aged 15-18 broke into a nursery/daycare and took their three 5year old piggies out and kicked them about, two were found dead in the outside pool and the other has not been found. The neighbours heard the poor pigs scream in terror. How can anyone do such a thing! It makes me sick that these people are not in jail. What makes them think that, that behaviour is acceptable.. how can you justify it? It makes me wonder what goes through their head!

Re: Some people! That is terriable!! Not to make the situation seem less than what it is----people do awful things to their own children, familiy and loved ones--guinea pigs are no exception to torture. Some people are sick and twisted, and you are right they should have to pay for the crime they commited. Hopefully they will. . .

Re: Some people! I know a lot of states here have increased penalties of animal cruelty and neglect, usually from a misdemeanor to a felony. Part of it is to send the message that this is not acceptable, and part of it is that they have found a correlation to people who abuse animals that then go on to commit horrible crimes against human beings. This kind of behavior definately seems to suggest that something is not right in the heads of people who do this. I hope they not only punish these kids (community service or something), but also do some kind of psychological interviews to see if they can correct any problems before this manifests itself on to human beings. Here is one of the many links with stories of correlation between animal abuse and later violence towards humans (Warning: It is graphic!): http://www.helpinganimals.com/a-abuse.html

Re: Some people! Once, two boys broke into an egg farm with golf clubs and killed all the baby and adult chickens. It's sick! Bash them around with golf clubs, see if they live!!

Re: Some people! Oh my goodness!!!! That is so terrible!!!!!!! One time I was watching animal planet, and this family went out of town for a while, leaving a young 10-12 year old boy in charge of their dog. The stupid boy and a friend poored gas all over the dog, and set the dog on fire! The poor thing! Neighbors saw a ball of fire streaking across the yard, and called the police. The dog actually lived! But it had to be put under MAJOR medical care. I so totally agree! People are so cruel! You know, that kid probably grew up to be a murderer! They say that young cerial killers start with animals!

Re: Some people! Someone lit a bunny (I think his name was Pheonix) on fire and his little ears were burnt sooo bad. I think there's a thred about it somwhere on here. If I met any of those people who do things like that to animals, I think I would be the one in jail.

Re: Some people! Almost all serial killers began their violence on animals. I hope these "thugs" (and I believe that term is being polite relative to what they ought be called!!) get some serious punishment! It makes my blood boil to think of little sweet, innocent piggies being hurt so badly.

Re: Some people! Thats so horrible, I think they should get a jail sentence in at least a juvenillle facility. I doubt they will. I find animal abuse isnt punsihed as much as it should be. Here we had an animal abuse case where a kitten was repeatedly bashed and run over with a bike. It survived luckily. Some rabbits and one guinea pig were also horribly drowned, bashed and found in a gutter outside a man's house. They only got a fine and community service one of the offenders was over 23 years old. I think there should be harsher punishments. Curfews, juvenille detention, fines, something more needs to be done to send the message that this is wrong.

Re: Some people! On the radio, they said that most children who torture or abuse animals would likely grow up to be serial killers.

Re: Some people! Like in the Butterfly Effect, when the kid torchered the dog... I know it's off topic but all this talk reminded me of that.

The mature, adult thing would be to control your anger. If you cannot, then seeking professional medical attention would be recommended. Harming living things - animal or human - is not "cool" or acceptable behavior. ![]() |

As far as the topic goes, I agree it is terrible what people do to animals... I cannot imagine being around someone who would think it is acceptable to be cruel to any living thing. |

Re: Some people! Oh gosh that is horrible! Made me cry just reading that...I have one of those minds where if I read a story I easily get real life graphic visuals in my head playing along as I read and it makes it ten times worse... To be honest I control myself very well in most situations BUT if it was ever one of my own animals that someone messed with...to be honest I can completely understand why some people get violent back because If it were your own child ( whether human child or for those of us that see our pets as our children ) you'd be surprised just how deeply you feel those emotions an
