Piggies DO NOT belong in balls and wheels! Please help!

Hey peeps, I need your help.
On this page, check out the bottom of the toys and chewing section.

I quote "You will find wheels and running balls made for guinea pigs. If you buy one of these, make sure that it is big enough for an “adult” guinea pig to fit inside."

I have sent a message to the site reguarding this, as exercise balls and wheels can do serious damage to a cavys back.
What I'm asking you to do is to send a message to the site also, as they may change it if they get flooded with messages reguarding this.

Please help; If people see this info and are mislead, it will be the piggies who suffer!

At a second glance, there is a lot of misleading and downright wrong info on that webpage, eg, that females will not fight, saying that they do not require maintenance, can live well in glass tanks or store-bought cages, ect.
Please help and message the site about it!

I emailed them, too. I also added regular pine or cedar shavings can cause resp. problems (need to use kiln-dried/no oils) as well as guinea pigs are lactose intolerant so don't give them yogurt drops.

I e-mailed them about all the wrong information(which there is much of). I also pointed out how they failed to mention male guinea pig pups MUST be seperated at 3 weeks as they did mention 4 weeks as a weaning age. Did you see the cage dimensions they suggested!? My email must have been 2 pages long- I included a link to Cavy Cages btw.

I have a question. I think it's extremely admirable that you are all trying to educate these people and have them fix their website, but do you realize that there are probably hundreds if not thousands of websites out there with equally incorrect information. Are you planning on searching them all out and emailing all of them to try and correct their information? If so, then more power to you.

Of course we can't check every site on the net, but every little thing counts. Would you rather live with the knowledge that someone has done what they say on that page, and their piggie has suffered for it? All I think is that whenever anyone sees a site or anyone or anything with incorrect information, for that matter, that they should be informed. For the sake of the Cavys!

It looks like that is a pet store website. That is unfortunately normal info that the pet stores give out. They need to push the products they sell. I doubt they will change it.

Your right, it probably won't make a difference but at least people are trying. I don't understand why you would want to put anyone down for that.

I wasn't trying to put anyone down for trying to correct bad information. My point is that if you email every website that has something wrong, it's going to be a full time job. If you want to send emails correcting the information on websites, perhaps write your emails in a word processing program and save them, so you don't have to type them over and over again.

Personally, I don't go looking for other guinea pig websites anymore. I found ones with decent information, and I don't have time to go looking for errors that other people might find and follow.

I can't believe how silly some people/ pet stores are. I have been to a few that advertise exercise balls and wheels for guinea pigs.
I had guinea pigs as a young girl, I have to admit that when I got some more now I had an image in my head of a cute guinea pig in an exercise ball.
I am so glad that after researching I figured it may not be such a cute image.
Now all I see is a poor little piggie with a broken back.
