Good morning all! I experimented with Vince last night as far as his sight and hearing goes. He definately can hear because when I call his name, he looks right at me and when I open a bag of anything in the kitchen, he wheeks like crazy. I've even come up behind him and started talking to him and he turns arounds and talks back, especially if I ask how the "piggies" are doing, he talks up a storm. As for the sight, I put him in our second bathroom, which has never been in before and he did not bump into anything. He went crazy running around the toliet like he was doing laps. And I swear when I talk to him, he looks straight into my eyes. As for the teeth, that I am not sure and will have to confer with a vet. But like I said, he is fairly small, almost runt-like compared to Lenny. Maybe Lenny is just a big piggie, but Vince's eyes always look like he is sleepy and of course as I mentioned in an earlier post, one eye crusts up almost everyday yet he eats quite a bit, drinks well, and plays with Lenny so I'm at a loss.

Is there any chance of a picture of his face that include his eyes?

It's great to hear that you've ruled out blindness and deafness in Vince, and it sounds like you're going to get him to a vet to have his eyes and teeth checked. How much do each of your boys weigh? You mentioned that Lenny might just be a big pig. Of course we want to see pigtures anyway (who can resist?), but maybe if we could see some pics with comparitive lengths and weights, someone might be able to give more insight.

Can't they be lethals without being deaf and blind? I believe it varies. They can just be a lethal with teeth problems?

Hopefully someone with "lethal experience" will come along and answer that one. Looks like chinnymom is headed in the right direction though since Vince appears to be able to see and hear and is getting to the vet.

Some lethals are not deaf. Some have no tooth problems. I have not seen any that weren't blind, though. A picture of his eyes would be good. If you can get a normal picture and one where the flash reflects off his eyes, that would be good.

I will try and get a good pigture of him the next two days when I'm off. He is a snob though - usually turns his head when we try to take a pigture. I do have two pics on my camera phone that is with me, but one does not show his eyes and the other he turned his head so you can only see one eye. I will get some pigtures of Lenny too since I do not have any at all (he just came to us over the holidays). I will also weigh them the next two days to give you a more accurate description rather than small and big. Thank you for your information and for helping me determine whether Vince is lethal or not.

One eye is fine, as long as it's a good clear picture. But camera phones are not always great cameras, I know.

I'm going to post a link to a website where I have several of my animals (if that is okay). Vince is at the very bottom. I don't know if this is a good enough picture of his eye - hopefully it is. But at least you can put a face to the name.

Here is one of Einstein's eyes (Einstein is my lethal) so you can compare:

Did you take a flashlight and shine it in Vince's eyes to see if his pupils responded?

To me from that picture on the website his eyes seem normal(sp?), but thats just from the picture.

No but I noticed that when I took him from the bedroom where it was quite bright to the living room where it wasnt so bright, his pupils got bigger and then smaller again when we went into the bathroom.
Vince's eyes seem to be much more red/pink than Einstein's - although Einstein is quite the handsome piggie!

Also - do not know anything about his parents as he was a rescue from Petsmart (too old to sell and nobody wanted him).

I'm happy to see that Vince isn't a lethel. What a cutie! But Einstein is awfully cute, too. He looks like he's brimming with personality. I know taking care of a lethal must be a lot of work, but what a wonderful life you've given that poor little pig.

Einstein certainly has tons of personality. I wish he had tons of weight, though.
