Pet store I went into a pet store in my local mall. There were cages without tops right by the entrance. In the first two cages there were bunnies. After looking at the bunnies for acople minutes I noticed a sign in the cage what said guinea pigs $24.99. I picked up the plastic hutch were many bunnies were dozing and in with the bunnies was a guinea pig. I didn't pick him up even though according to the sign I could have. His or her ears were chewed off. I was in this store before and they use to keep the bunnies and guinea pigs seperate.

Re: Pet store Poor little guy! Maybe you should go in there and tell them to get the guinea pig out of the rabbit cage.

Re: Pet store Maybe you ought to read all the other threads posted about bad pet stores, pet stores that mis treat their animals, pet store animals kept in deplorable conditions, etc. etc. There is a lot of advice in those threads on actions that can be taken.

Re: Pet store If they kept the pigs and bunnies seperate before, it might be some kind of mistake. The store will most likely do something about it if you bring it to their attention.

Re: Pet store I think they ran out of space to put that guinea pig in his own cage. The store is really small and they kind of rearranged everything. Not that that's an excuse. I'm just saying.

Re: Pet store His or her ears were chewed off. If that's not abuse I don't know what it. Threaten to call in the humane society if they don't take the poor pig out of the rabbits' cage.

Re: Pet store The chewed off ears were probably from another pig, overcrowding and stress at the pet mill or backyard breeder. Rabbits wouldn't do that. When they are stressed or don't have much space, they chew on each others' ears. The mom might have done it when she was stressed too.
