Just wanting to introduce myself here. My name is Jennifer and I live in New Orleans Louisiana. I recently had my wonderful pet hamster, Pixel, pass away and after much deliberation, I have decided to get a couple of guinea pigs. I don't have them yet but I have been doing alot of research. I ran across this site while looking for ideas for what kind of a cage I would need. I knew from the research I did before I got my hamster that the cages they have in stores are usually horrible. I guessed that for guinea pigs it was no different. My hamster had a two level bin cage that I built myself so I was pleased to find out about the C&C cages and I have already built one for my future pets. This site has be wonderfully helpful in getting me prepared, not just with the cage but also in buying and making some toys and accessories and choosing he right food. I will be getting my pigges on Wednesday and I think they will be happy in their new home. I will try to get some good pictures to post after they are settled in.       |

I am getting them from a old friend of mine who lives in MS. He got them for his daughter who decided that she didn't want them anymore. I don't think they were aware of how much work would be involved in their care. He asked me if I wanted them because he didn't want to take them to a shelter. I think they will be much happier in their C&C cage than the tiny store cages they are in now. |

I'm glad you found a pair to adopt. If you had been planning on going to a petstore, I was going to point you in the direction of an adoption thread for a pair of girls our Moderator VoodooJoint has for adoption. |

I did get my hamster from Petsmart and luckily had no problems. I was actually thinking about getting another hamster when my friend sent me an email saying he had heard about Pixel and asked If I wanted to take the pigs. I'm feeling so impatient right now because I have been getting things ready for the past two weeks and tomorrow I finally get to bring them home. I can't stand the wait |

Just got my piggies home a few hours ago. I have decided to name them Gizmo and Gadget. They were a bit scared at first but by the 2nd hour (after they both got a good nap) they were exploring the cage and munching on some veggies and hay. I also saw them popcorning like crazy a minute ago, so I think they approve of their new home. I will try to get some pictures soon. I don't want to go sticking a camera in their face while they are still getting used to things. |
