Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hello all guinea pigs lover, at least I expect you all to be so, we are new here! We dont have any guinea pigs yet, but we expect to get 2 by the end of the month. So we thought this would be a great place to learn more about them. We plan on getting two, since they get lonely easily so we have heard, but we are debating over which kind, as one of us wants a long haired one and one of us likes short haired. So we were thinking of getting one of each! We cant wait, so anything to to with guinea pigs that could help us would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Last edited by Ly&Pigs; 10-10-09 at 02:33 pm. Hi and Welcome to GPC. Have you found a shelter or rescue to adopt from? |

Well we arent too sure where to start, we are hoping for two, and we know that may make it a bit more difficult to find two pigs that are happy together. I've heard that introducing a new guinea pig only works if it is a baby, so we are trying are best to find friendly pigs! |

What you heard was wrong. Age doesn't matter as much. Especially if you give them enough space i.e the C&C cages pictured on the website. Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder is a good place to start, as is your local animal shelter(s). Most guinea pig rescues already have paired up guinea pigs for you to choose from. |

Welcome to the forum, and I'm glad you are researching before bringing pigs into your life! If you can find a rescue, they often have guineas that are already bonded. I got my three from a rescue that was 45 minutes Northeast of where I live. The drive was well worth it, I would've driven 5 times as far to avoid supporting pet stores or breeders. As previously mentioned, Petfinder.com is a good place to start, that's where I found the rescue I went to. |
