Neutral : -3 (+0/-3) Hello my name is Mary. My piggies name is Trixie. She is only piggy I have at present time. I had her grandparents and dad until they passed away from some serious health issues. (I uploaded her picture in wrong place I think. I clicked on guinea pig, but it uploaded it to in memory of. ) well anyway she thinks shes a princess because she gets all the attention. I also have 2 pet rats, a dwarf hamster, a cat, a jack russell terrier, and an artic wolf. I love all animals. I live in North Carolina in a very small town. We do alot of camping in the summer. This past summer I took Trixie with us. She loves to ride in a vehicle. She climbs on my shoulder and rides there. she watches the cars go by. She loves visiting the pet stores. I take her to see the piggies. She wheeks at them but if we get one out she doesn't like it. She was born in April of this yr.She got to spend a week or two with her grandmother,Sassy. |

Welcome to the forum. I read where you said that you take her to the pet store... you really should not get her near the guinea pigs as she could catch a sickness from them. Petstore animals are generally unhealthy animals. She does not have to come in contact with them to end up sick. |

You should adopt her a friend because guinea pigs are social animals. She will be much happier. |

I agree with the recommendations for a friend and to keep her away from the pet store. She could easily get sick. I would also reconsider camping with her. I'm not sure exactly what your situation was, but temperature changes and traveling are stressful for pigs. They're better off staying home with someone to check in on them. |

Neutral : -3 (+0/-3) Well not that its any of your business . I had no choice. Futher more she was only looking through glass at piggies. Besides I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ANYMORE PIGGIES for if i was she would pick her cage mate. but she isnt wanting anymore to share her attention. Thank you all not. |

I'm sorry you are offended. Everyone here wants what is best for your pig. Pigs are social animals. As much as they might enjoy human company, humans can never replace other pigs. They are social animals and should always be kept with other pigs (or at least in a divided cage so they have another pig to see and hear and smell). I am not sure what you mean by you "had no choice" to take her to the pet store. Why couldn't you have left your pig at home? Surely you don't take her everywhere you go. There is a lot of great advice on this site. I suggest you read through the stickies and some other threads to get a sense of the environment and general care recommendations here if you are easily offended by suggestions for improvement. |
