Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 Hello from South America. We're new to piggies, my name is Kim and my family and I have two guineas, Anne and 'Suzie'. There are so cute, and have so much personality I'm amazed! I found this place looking for info, and Just love the cages and the pictures. Guineas are actually native here in Argentina (on any given morning you can soo 100's by the road side eating grass) I grew up with rabbits and can't believe how diferent and wonderful cavys are! We found out that Suzie is a boy and we're now calling him Theo, I'm hoping all will go well with our piggies, when/if babies come, we're hoping to have one of baby of each sex to keep our ((seperated and lonely)) piggies company. It's so sad to see them calling eachother and touching noses through the wire. I don't know if anyone will read this but, I live in the city and can't find hay... I give LOTS of greens and veggies and the only pellets that we have here are some kind of rabbit pellets though, with corn. Our piggies are very healthy, but I'm wondering if there is a good alternitive to feeding hay. I have been giving them corn husks and they love it more than everything else... I'm doing my best, we don't have things here available like in other countries. Our first piggie 'Suzie' was given to my daughter in a 1 x1 glass aquarium, I was so happy to find this site and we made a 2x3 cage for her (now him) Don't know if people read these, but a big Hello to everyone, Kim |

Hello Kim!!! Welcome to this wonderfully amazing site!!!! You can search the forums to find out what company's you can buy hay from online, I don't know how much shipping would cost you, but you want to do that for hay and good pellets, hay is ESSENTIAL to a pigs digestive tract, piggies need hay!!!! it is a must, so even if you have to pay an arm and a leg for it, it is well worth it. Also look into feed stores, I don't know Argentina, Obviously I'm American, but if you have anything that offers food for horses or cattle then you can probably get hay from there. I am very happy that you built them a bigger cages and I hope that you do get either buddies or one fixed so they can fully live together. WELCOME to the site, have fun exploring and reading, you'll learn tons!!!!!!!!!! |
