I am new. Hi everyone. My name is Lisa and I just joined.I am 23 and live in Newfoundland,Canada.I have a 4 yr old daughter and several pets. I only have one piggy right now,his name is Stuart. His cagemate/buddy JUST passed away a few days ago.I am still heartbroken.Stuart seems to be doing okay though and still eating/drinking and being himself.Anyway I was fostering Stuart and his buddy for a little more then a month, when I finally decided I had to adopt them! Stuart is a big boy, much bigger then any GP I ever seen. Anyway I have looked at this site a few times in the past for info and whatnot when I was researching piggies.I think it has been over a year and I still haven't joined,so I finally said "whynot?" and joined! I hope to enjoy myself here. Here is my Stuart! ![]() ![]() Oh and one of the cage...the other piggy is Stanley (R.I.P). ![]()

Re: I am new. Welcome to GPC. Sorry to hear of Stanley Passing. Youhave a great cage. Staurt is a big boy, how much does he weigh? He looks about the size of my Piggles, and he's a little over 4 pounds. BTW, I have some friends that are brothers who's names are Stanley and Stuart. They also have another brother named Steven, maybe if you decide to adopt another, he can be named Steven?

Re: I am new. I am not sure Stuart's weight. He's a li'l heavy tho.I wanna get him weighed now! Haha...really? That is interesting! I was looking at the rescue page where I got my boys from and they have a cutie named Smore - it's another "S" name! Heh.However I am not sure I am ready to adopt another pig yet. I have a question...how hard is it to introduce male piggies?? I don't feel quite ready to adopt another (I don't wanna feel like I am replacing beloved Stan) - but I don't want Stuart to feel too lonely and so I wonder the longer he is alone, will it be harder to introduce a new male? Oh and just for cuteness, here is an old picture of Stanley and Stuart - to show the size difference.Stuart was somewhat dirty then,so excuse that! ![]()

Re: I am new. There are a few tricks to introducing boars, but it can be done. I have 5 that live together. Have a look here Guinea Pigs Social Life. It has lots of very useful info on how to introduce and what to look for while doing so. Since Stuart has been with another boar, do you have an idea as to his personality. Is he more dominant or submissive? That helps to know. I would try to find a younger boar to pair up with him. Although I have had success with pairing two older boars, it's generally easier to do one younger, one older. But hey, that's a hurdle to cross when the time comes, eh?

Re: I am new. Thanks for the info.I will have a look at that article. Stuart was the more shy/laid back of the two.He relied on Stanley to make sure things were safe. However now that Stan is gone,Stuart seems to be a little more outgoing and he rushes up to greet me,when before...it took him a few minutes to come over to greet me. The rescue says he is about 3 yrs old.

Re: I am new. Your Stuart is very cute. I am sincerely sorry about the passing of Stanely, he was very pretty. In all honestly, it all depends on the pig. I am in the process of introducing a bonded pair of brothers to my older pig. Very slow process so far! Good luck with any guinea pig you may get in the future as a buddy for Stuart. Thank you, and Good job for adopting!

Re: I am new. Thank you. I am going to wait another couple weeks I think, just until I find another piggy that needs a home. Stuart is doing good now,so I think he'll be fine if I wait a couple more weeks. Thanks everyone!
