| New Piggy owner Hi everyone, My name is Deborah and I live in Teesside in North East England. My daughter and I have just got a female guinea pig, an abbysinian that we have called Wilma. We bought her from a pet shop when she was 8/9 weeks old. She is now 11 weeks old and I think she may be pregnant!!!! Im devastated, as this what not the reason we bought her. We really dont want to breed her, just wanted a pet. With her being so young I need to know what I can do for her to keep her safe and healthy. I dont even know when the babies are due!!!! HELP ![]() |

| Re: New Piggy owner This is one of the big reasons we advocate not buying pigs in petstores. They are generally missexed, ill or pregnant. Just provide a good diet (you can find info in the sticky threads at the top of the Diet and Nutrition forum). Gestation is anywhere from 59-72 days. It would be a good idea for you to get a scale to do weekly weighings. You aren't breeding her, you bought her this way if she is indeed pregnant. It's not your fault, it's the petstores fault. |

| Re: New Piggy owner This is exactly why you shouldn't go to petstores but whats done is done so all we can offer you now is advice. Guinea Lynx :: Reproduction You should probably bring her to the vet just to make sure that she is indeed pregnant, lets hope not though!! Last edited by AnimalHouse36 : 05-27-08 at 03:17 pm.
