Changed Username

Hi I used to post here as Luv4Piggies but I decided to change my user name, just because. Anyway I still have the same pets... one piggy included. I have yet to upgrade his cage and at this point idk if I should even bother seeing as he's 6 years old. I know he'd possibly get 3 good years out of it (if we're lucky) but I don't have much idea how to do it and it seems really complicated. Everyone says its not as bad as it looks but I'm kinda..errr...dexterouslly challanged??? Anywho, I'm considering it but not sure if it's really worth it.

So, his name is Noel and I'll put some pics up in a few mins.

Just because is not a valid reason to create a new user name. In fact, creating a second name is potentially a bannable offense. In the future, please email an administrator if you have a problem with your forum ID.

I'm glad you finally bothered to read the forum rules. Generally, it's preferrable to do that before posting on any forum anyway.

It wasn't "kind of" condescending Johnny, it was very condescending and I, for one, fully support the response. It is wise for everyone to read the rules of a site BEFORE posting. All Luv4Piggies/Sarah B did was create work for the mods and admin by flaunting our rules and she could have gotten herself kicked off the boards because creating multiple usernames is a bannable offence.

It's just that you have to realize that not everyone is doing this out of malice. I know that you will occasionally get the jerk who was banned, and then created another profile to wreak havoc, but at the end of the day, this is a guinea pig forum. This is not a matter of national security. I, personally, did not read the rules of the forums until after I got my first wheeak for putting "Johnny" at the end of my post. I've been administrator and moderator of many different forums, and I understand the unwritten rules of most public forums (no excessive cussing, racial slurs, etc.). Never would have dreamed that I would be reprimanded for signing my name at the end of my posts (always thought it was a thing of respect). I don't agree with the rule, but hey, I'll honor your wishes since it was brought to my attention. I'm just trying to explain from the point of view of a new person to the site, I've seen many condescending, elitist messages aimed towards new people. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but it just comes off as cliche-ish here. This is not 100% of the time, and I have received a lot of great information on here. I just think that you can get your point across as far as getting people to follow the long list of rules for the forum without being snide and condescending.

I usually stay out of these discussions, but I would like to add my .5 cents. I read the rules before I started posting because that is what was requested of me when I registered. I didn't feel that it was too much to ask, given all that we get from this site. I also don't feel that the rules are restrictive or difficult to comply with. We are, after all, guests. We don't pay, we can call on our "host" at all hours of the day and night, AND they do this out of the desire to help the four (or less) legged community, certainly not for personal gain or glory. It just makes it nicer for everyone if we just "play by the rules."

I understand that the rules are what they are, and if you don't like them, don't post here. I'm just giving my opinion on how you could make this forum more enjoying and newbie-friendly.

My take on this is that, yes, we are guests. What is a forum, though, with out other people? Don't take this as ungratefulness, for I am grateful that Theresa provides a place for us to come together and share information. Running a website and forum is a lot of work, but it IS done for other people (and their animals). Thus, this is an interactive online website instead of an FAQ in Theresa's "My Documents" (if she is a non-Apple person). I think this is a great community with a wealth of knowledge and heart. But for this community to thrive, it must constantly replenish its numbers via new users. The biggest way to put-off new users is by showing a combativeness that seems to surface quickly. Long story short, Viva la Community; Down with Attitude.

Oh come on. Don't we all have bigger and better things to spend our time discussing?

If anyone has issues with how a moderator or moderators handle any issue that occurs on the forum, it is preferred that a private message be sent to the offending moderator or any other moderator, rather than drawing up the whole forum into unwarranted drama.
