Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

Welcome to GPC and congrats on your two new adopted girls! They're beautiful! And I must agree, you certainly did luck out with all that you got for only thirty dollars. Only thing I can say is don't use the tiki hut hidy (with the straw roof.) They have honey in/on them which is bad for pigs.

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

I remember someone telling me that the edible huts are bad for them. I wasn't planning on using it anyways, but thanks for the heads up.

Oh they're beautiful, congratulations and be ready to be wrapped around their little paws. You got a lot of great things for the $30.00. So glad you can give them a wonderful home. Please post us more pigtures soon!

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

WOW, that was a great deal, the only thing I can tell from the picture that's not good are the wood and straw huts. They are not good for the piggies. Too much sugar. I would get rid of those. But otherwise, great deal and beautiful piggies.

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

Thank you. We have been really happy with them so far. They have been a little skiddish, especially when the kids are talking loud around them. They are starting to warm up, though. Found out today that they love carrots.

Sounds like my pigs, Midnight and Ralphy. They love their carrots. We also give them lettuce, bell peppers, cucumbers, etc. Sometimes I think they eat better then we do. LOL

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

Hi - I am also near St. Louis - although west - in Chesterfield. I am looking for a single male to be a buddy to the piggie we got last week. I saw that same Craigslist ad as well as a few others, but just didn't get good vibes from them. I just called the Humane Society today and they only have 2 females right now.

I am also leery of craigslist for a piggie.

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

I got two of mine off CL. They came from a girl who worked at a Vet's office that was trying to sell her house. The real-estate agent told her the piggies had to go. She really cared for them and they were in great condition. She still emails me now and then to check up on them and I send her new pics. I guess it's just luck of the draw.

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

I think that Craigslist is something that you just have to get a feel for who you are doing business with. Buyer beware. The couple we got Zoey and Chloe from were getting ready to move to an apartment that didn't allow pets. They were on the up and up and, frankly, if you look at all of the supplies I got with the cavvies for $30, you can plainly see that they did not make money off of me. Bottom line, ask a lot of questions.

Hey that is a pretty good deal and some pretty cute pigs! You should double check they are both girls, just to be sure!

They are totally adorable!

They will be a skiddish for a while. Especially if there is a lot of noise. We calm our rescues down real quick by keeping our hands in the cage as much as possible while talking to them in a calm, quiet, soothing voice.

Have you printed off the nutrition/diet guide? If not, here is the link: [url="http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/diet-nutrition/22156-everything-you-need-know-about-cavys-diet-read-me-nutrition-charts-info.html"]]Diet/Nutrition Chart It's a fantastic chart to use on a daily basis to make sure your piggies are getting the proper amounts of vitamins, nutrients, etc.

Re: Hello Hello and Thank You Thank You

I tried to correct my post, but as you can see...it didn't work.

Let's try this again...

You are now an official cavy slave. When they say, "jump"...you say, "how high"?! And, by the way...you'll love every little demand they make!!
