| Hello! Hello! I'm Ashley. I recently got a piggie (December 26th). This is the first time I've had one. Before buying we read through some books and websites to make sure we could properly care for her. This is Talla. She is brownish/redish with a bit of black. She has lots and lots of fur, thick fur. Her favorite things to do are eat, play with my hair, chew my clothes, and lay with her mommy. She loves to headbutt me. We had her in the cage with another pig we got at the same time but for some reason she was mean to her so we ended up buying another cage. However, if we get them out and let them run around together she's really nice. I think they just wanted their own cages. We're not sure, but we think Talla might be pregnant. Her stomach is awfully big..I could end up being a grammy! ![]() |

| Re: Hello! Hi there and welcome to the forum. There is so much great information here and I suggest that you take the time and read through the threads here. It's good that you did some research before you got them but I'm guessing that like all of us you will learn more here than you ever thought you needed to know about guinea pigs. I can tell you first off that you are going to need to build a bigger cage for your new pig(s), if you get her into a big c&c cage then I'm betting that you can house the 2 pigs together. There is not a person on this site who will tell you that housing guinea pigs in store bought cages is a good for them. Many of us (myself included) have built our own c&c cages for a lot less than what it cost to buy a small store bought cage. If your pig is pregnant then you will need to seperate the males from females at 3 weeks of age otherwise you could end up with more piggy pregnancies. Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig has a lot of good information also and great threads on sexing baby guinea pigs. Please feel free to ask questions! |
