Smile Hello!

Hello there! I guess I should have posted here before I just jumped in on other boards...but better late then never.

My name is Jane and I live in New York. Long Island to be exact. I am married and have two kids. A boy who is 10 and a girl who is 7. We have two cats, Aggie and Emily and a hamster named Buttercup. Our newest addition is our guinea pig, who we named Cookie because with her coloring she looks like an Uh-Oh Oreo. This is what happens when you let kids do the naming!

This seems like a great site. I learned so much here.

Re: Hello!

Welcome to GPC! And don't worry I have been posting and reading this thread since August and I still haven't formerly introduced myself....probably need to do that...
Have you thought about getting Cookie a friend? Guinea pigs are much happier in pairs, take a minute to read this article, it explains the social life of a pig extremely well. http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm
Also I can't really tell from you avatar but it looks like Cookie is in a store bought cage? Have you thought about making a C&C cage? They are super easy to make, you can make them fit your space and are a lot cheaper than pet store cages! The more room you pig has to play the happier she will be and she will show it! Sometimes people think they don't have the space for one but I have seen people get really creative to conserve space! The home page of this site gives you all the info you need to build one.
