| Introducing myself and my pigs Hi All, My name is Louise, I'm 29 from Liverpool UK I live her with my partner Peter and our two daughters Emily (6) and Caitlin (2). I'm a full time mum but go to night school to study English and hope to go to uni in a couple of years to study imaginative writing. We have five guinea pigs. So here is a bit about them. Sunshine was bought from a small pet shop when he was 10 weeks old. He was placed in with a rabbit and I took pity on him. He is an Abyssinian. Twinkle was bought from Pets at Home when he was 10 weeks old. We needed a friend for Sunshine and I just couldn't resist him. He is a Abyssinian/Peruvian. Cuzzy wa also bought from Pets at Home at 10 weeks old. I only went in for food for them and came out with another guinea pig. The three boars lived happily together until Cuzzy was diagnoised with mites and I seperated him from Sunshine and Twinkle. The bond between them was broken so now Cuzzy is a house pig and he lives in our living room. I'm hoping to get a baby boar for him in the spring. And I know what you will all say, why didn't you go to a rescue? But I didn't know any better at the time. It was only when visiting forums I realised that Cavy rescues did exist and that is how I came by my sows. I've learnt from that and would only use resuces in future although I wouldn't be without my boys now. I was naive but I have learnt from that. I got them from a lovely guy who rescues guineas in Cumbria, they are sisters and are now 5 months old. They are smooth haired ginger and black. Sunshine and Twinkle live in a 5ft x 2 ft hutch indoors in my utlility room, Flora and Fleur sleep in a Nero 3 cage but in the day they are in a 5x5 play pan made of C&C in my living room and Cuzzy is in a Nero 3 in the living room. They are all on fleece as I've just got them off Megazorb as it was so dusty and Cuzzy is just getting over a URI which my vet said may have been caused by the dust from the megazorb but proving it is another thing. It was touch and go for Cuzzy for a few days as he wasn't eating so he was syringe fed for a while, he had a wry neck and was falling over as on top of his URI he got an ear infection, but hopefully he is over the worst. I've included some pics of my pigguns, I look forward to getting to know you all and joining in the many debates here and helping where I can. | Re: Introducing myself and my pigs Welcome to the forum! Make sure to take note of the sticky threads on the top of each subforum they are full of info! I'm also going to give you a few links that might help you out you might have seen them but just to be safe I'll give them anyway. First is a link to a page on links then a link to Kleenmama's hayloft the hay there is absulutely great from what I've heard (I don't have piggies yet but I'm getting some soon). I also heard it is cheaper then Oxbrow (another online hay site). The last is a link to guinea lynx (GL) it's another amazing site. I hope you are enjoying the forum as much as I am and if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them. PS. Your piggies are adorable I might have to pignap them. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ost-first.html Kleenmama's Hayloft Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig |
