Introduction

Hello at long last! I have been sneaking on to this site for about 2 yrs. now, and have read some posts that I really wanted to respond to, so I got on board.
I have 2 boars, "Charlie Bear", a tri-color, and "Slick", a red and white crested (both mutts, I'm sure). Both are in excess of 3 pounds and perfect, of course. I learned about this site from a casual conversation with a pet store employee and quickly became an addict. I pass the address on to anyone who will listen. I have gathered alot of info and felt great shame at the "large" ferret cage that I had gotten for them and have long since put them in a 2x4 C&C cage, which is slated to get a second story SOON!
My motivating factor was - Charlie has had pnuemonia twice and almost died. My vet didn't know much about pigs, but she found out for me. Charlie is fine and fat now and is on an Albuterol inhaler daily. My caution is, if your piggy seems to have a "cold", don't wait to get him/her to the vet. They're little and can go fast. Also, I didn't see any mention of getting the little guys on Probiocin or acidophilus to prevent "sterile gut" from antibiotics. That said, I'm really glad to be here.

Re: Introduction

Welcome to the forum!

Make sure to take note of the sticky threads on the top of each subforum they are full of info! I'm also going to give you a few links that might help you out you might have seen them but just to be safe I'll give them anyway. First is a link to a page on links then a link to Kleenmama's hayloft the hay there is absulutely great from what I've heard (I don't have piggies yet but I'm getting some soon). I also heard it is cheaper then Oxbrow (another online hay site). I would also try to find a better more cavy savy vet she may have known he was sick but if she doesn't know much about cavies I would try to fins another one. Anyway the third link might help with finding a cavy savy vet. I hope you are enjoying the forum as much as I am and if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them.

PS. Pigtures are a must!
