My piggies and I Hi! I have 3 guinea pigs. They are all quite cute. Linda: she is 5 years old and lives by herself but is pretty content though a little shy. She is all orange/tan coloured. Very sweet, but I am worried about her...you can tell just by how she acts that she is older and her hair is thinning a little too... Nelly: yes i know...I shouldn't have but I didn't know....I bought her from a pet store.....**feels guilty. She was pregnant and had 4 little babies, now all adopted out to good homes. I kept one though. She is now 9 months old. Buttons: She is a little older than a month now, daughter of Nelly. She is very tame and almost all black, with a little white and tan/orange. Long haired cross abissian I am guessing. Me: Well I am getting an even larger cage for my spoiled guinea pigs for their christmas present...30 square feet.

Re: My piggies and I Welcome to the forum! I don't mean to be nosy but why is Linda all by herself? Oh make sure to take note of the sticky threads on the top of each subforum they are extremely useful. Buttons is a month old right, cavies under six months should have alfalfa hay which has extra calcium in it which will help with making their bones nice and strong. Once Buttons is over six months you should mix the timothy hay in with some alafa hay a few times a week. I'm going to give you a few links that might help with some of this. First is a link to to Oxbrow a great place to order hay from. Second is a link to GL another wonderful site. Last is a link to Ly's amazing nutrition chart it's truely amazing. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them and I hope you are enjoying the site is much as I am. PS. Pigtures are a must. Trust me, I tryed to get Linda another guinea pig that she'd accept but everytime the other guinea pig accepts her she tells them to back off. I think it's because she was alone for so long. When I bought her from another person she was in horrible condition. Unforuantly I didn't know of this website yet. And now she simply doesn't like other guinea pigs. I do still give Buttons alfalfa hay, yes. I happen to live on a farm though so hay is no problem...all free for free! But I do not get this sticky tab thingy... What is it suppose to mean and where is it located? I have no idea. Ok, I got some pigtures!

Re: My piggies and I Thank you for the links to the nutrition chart Fluffy! That was very helpful. I just printed it. Also, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me... How do you thank a person? I've already gotten some great information from others but never managed to figure out how to thank them...

Re: My piggies and I Did you properly introduce the guinea pig to Linda following the instructions on Cavy Spirit? Was blood drawn? Unless blood was drawn then there was no need to separate them, if blood was drawn you should consider a buddy bath. If you introduced them in Lindas cage then chances are she was just being territorial. Stickys can be found at the top of each sub-forum, they are separated from the rest of the threads with an white icon next to them.

Re: My piggies and I You cant thank someone until you are a Cavy Slave. To be a Cavy Slave you have to be on the forum for 30 days (correct me if I am wrong) and write more than 10 posts.

Re: My piggies and I Ok I see, makes sense, I just joined. Yes, I did follow the correct directions (on neutral territory etc.), but I think I'll try the piggy bath and then place them in the even bigger cage I am hopefully getting. Thank you pigsforlife! I'll be sure to try it again, it just scares me a little.

Re: My piggies and I Oh and one more thing...How do you make your activator blink onto different pictures with the writing on it? Must I be a cavy slave for that too?

Re: My piggies and I I think you should do a buddy bath, all pigs would benifit if they can be housed together and it would probably be easier for you too. Instructions on buddy baths can be found here http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm, you have to scroll down a fair way. Dont be scared, be confident. Have a towel handy to break up any fights, and dont separate them unless blood is drawn.

Re: My piggies and I You have to donate money to Cavy Spirit (which is a rescue), after donating you are able to do extra things including the animated gifs, and access to the VIP lounge. This may help you http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...es-titles.html

Re: My piggies and I Your welcome Buttons I'm glad I helped and sorry if I came off sort of bossy and a jerk I tend to come off that way sometimes and I try not to overuse smilies so it's hard to tell my emotions I just read my post again and to me I sounded a but jerky.

| Re: My piggies and I Oh, thank you! And by the way, you didn't sound too bad, I didn't take it too negatively. No worries! But I will still try and get them together again, I might just need a bigger cage. Quote:
