new piggie!

Hey all! My piggies have been "introduced". When I bought my first one I didn't realize how important it was to have two. Today we introduced them and it went really well. Our original one kept sniffing the other and bouncing around a bit - would do a few laps then bounce some more. They gave each other some kisses. When I put them back into the c&c cage, the newer one kind of huddled in the corner. Of course Linny was still busy sniffing her and popcorning around. I decided I should show her the ramp since all of the food and hay is upstairs. She crawled on the food bowls and checked out the litter/hay area. She seems a bit overwhelmed but not too freaked out. Hopefully Linny will leave her alone long enough for her to get a nice big nap in from all of the excitement - and eat something too. I put a big bowl of spinach, mixed greens and carrots out for their celebration dinner together but she didn't seem to want to eat quite yet . Too much excitement! I have the feeling they will get along great! I am so happy for them both!

EDIT: I will try to find my camera tonight. I apologize for not knowing the technical breed names but one is all white but with the black eyes not pink, smooth hair. The other is sort of calico looking I guess is how I'd describe. Mostly white with light brown on one side of the face, dark brown on the other and a mixed up brown bottom . They are so cute together. I love my girls! I was going to wait for my daughters birthday or Christmas to get another pig but I really felt Linny would be too lonely to wait that long. So far so good!

Re: new piggie!

Thats great news! Im so glad they are getting along. I would keep an eye on them though and make sure they all get their fair share of food/hay etc.

I think pigtures are in order!

Re: new piggie!

"pigtures" hehe - here are some. I think these two are both fairly young. Maybe 6months or so? Tuck may be a little younger. (Daughter did name her tuck).

Linny is in my avatar image. So photogenic!
Here is a bigger version of that pic:

Here is new baby sister "Tuck"

Another shot of Linny - she is so cute. She reminds me more of a rat than a guinea at this size though hehe.

Tuck demonstrating how to use the stars hidey house - made from a gift box purchased at Gordman's recently. Eventually I think they'll be too big for this but its fine for now.

And last but not least - their favorite hiding spot - right under the hay in the litter box. This is up in the hay loft/kitchen area.

They are still getting along great so far today - though Linny won't leave Tuck alone. I think she's just so excited to have a friend she wants to be near her all of the time. Both are having no problem eating! I'm not sure who it was (I have the feeling Tuck) but someone scarfed down all of the pellets before bedtime! That hasn't happened before. Linny seems to prefer her lettuces and hay over the pellets. I guess I'll need to give a bit more food now that two are in the same cage.

So far so good! I think I might go pick out cuddle cup fabric today.

Re: new piggie!

Thanks. I have learned so much but I know I still have a lot to learn. Like how often to trim their toenails. Mine are so skittish right now - well Tuck is - Linny is a bit more tame - that I am almost afraid to attempt clipping nails quite yet. I sure don't want to hurt them!

Oh - and by reading a few other posts today I was relieved that I got girls and not boys - oh my goodness -

Re: new piggie!

Your welcome and I'm getting two girls soon and for that reason oh and I too don't want to clip their nails when I had my old pigs I took them to the vet for that.
