New here.

Hey everyone,

Well at one point in time I had a guinea pig who about a month after I had got him, had passed away unexpectadly. We never could figure out why he had passed on but I did know one thing. I missed him, I still do and he will always have a place in my heart. I told my mom I would never get another pig because I felt like it was my fault he died. Now however a friend has changed my mind. We went to visit him the other day and I got to meet his mothers 4 guinea pigs.

Now his mother has been having some severe health problems that could prove fatal and no one else in the house knows how to care for the pigs or likes them so I come along and fall in love. They have mommy, daddy and two babies because pet shop told them they had 2 males and it turned out the idiots were wrong. That makes me mad but that is another story. Well we had started heading home when he called me telling me to come take them, his mom said he wants them to be in a loving home where they will be taken care of and the people know what they are doing.

I kept the three girls, mommy and two babies and gave the male to my aunt who had been wanting one for quite some time and asked me since I had gotten for if she could have one. She knows about them as well so I figured it would be alright.

Now I know health issues aren't a good reason to get rid of a pet but please understand that she is almost 80 yrs old, paralized from the waist down. She has been in and out of the hospital for weeks now and almost died. She has to have another surgery tomorrow to try to remove a huge kidney stone and another large stone in the bladder. I understand that it was in the best interest of the pigs and that she was only worrying for their safety. Thank you all for listening and I hope that I am welcome here!

Welcome to the forum!

I'm sorry to hear about your friend's mom I hope that she makes it through the surgery. Oh and the babies should get some extra calcium in their diet it helps in insuring strong bones. Here are some links to guinea lynx and a veggie and fruit chart by Ly it's very useful. You should also feed the babies alfalfa hay but if they are over 6 months it shouldn't be fed on a daily basis but since the pigs are still growing it won't harm them to have it mixed in with some timothy hay a couple times a week. Here is a great place to order hay from it's the first link. The next link is Guinea lynx and it is a great site with tons of info. The next is the chart I mentioned. Well I hope you enjoy the forum as much as I do and if you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them the best I can.

PS, Please correct me if I'm incorrect with the nutrition info for the babies Ly
