hiya

Hiya my name is Tina and live in Co. Durham, Uk with my parents and older brother.

I got 3 guinea pigs last friday the 21st sept, they were supposed to be a group of 3 girls but i later found out my chocolate one is infact a boy so he is now living alone and im hoping that the 2 girls aint preggers since they are only 7 weeks old.

The male is chocolate in colour and his name is Fudge he likes to get more attention. The females are both black and fawn in colour one is more fawn and her name is Tawny and the other is more Black and her name is Speedy as she is the double of a guinea pig that i had when i was younger.

My other pets include:
*3 dogs, 2 isbt, 1 yorkie x
*5 rabbits
*9 mice
*4 gerbils, 2 of which are only a week old, they are bred by my brother so should have them in 5 to 6 weeks time, can't wait.
*a pond full of goldfish and koi carp

Re: hiya

Welcome to the forum!

Do take note of the sticky threads located at the top of each section on this forum, they hold invaluable information.

As for your girls, it is, unfortunatley, probable that they are both pregnant. I recommend taking them to a professional exotic vet, they should be able tell if they are infact pregnant. This site Guinea Lynx :: Finding a Veterinarian, this site Guinea Lynx :: GL's Vet List and this site Guinea Pig Vet Finder will help you locate a vet. If you are not already supplement their diet with extra alfalfa hay and vitamin c.

This is a list of week-by-week signs:
Week 1: No signs

Week 2: Sow may start drinking more

Week 3: Sow will start gaining weight, there will be a tightening of the abdomen muscles.

Week 4: An experienced breeder will be able to feel small foetuses

Week 5: Sow usually looks noticeably pregnant, taking on a rather rounded appearance. You will be able to feel the outlines of the foetuses.

Week 7: You will be able to feel 'quickening' this is when the babies kick

Week 9: It may become difficult for the sow to move around but she should still be active and eat and drink as normal.
The pelvic bones will separate sometime during this week

Week 10: The babies will be born

If you have any questions at all, please ask.

Re: hiya

Welcome to the forum! Nice to see another UKer! Hopefully your girlies aren't pregnant but unfortunately they could well be. This site and Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig has a lot of great info on and should be able to help you.
Feel free to ask any questions!
