Hey, How are you?

Hi my name is Chris and I am 20 and live in Georgia. I have posted on this message board before but have never introduced myself. I first made my account when my Ex (AQH88) asked me if I would like to make a In Memory post about Snickers who passes away a little more than a year ago. Shawna (AQH88) was the person who know all about medical information and diet and since she is no longer around I am taking the incentive to make sure I learn as much about guinea pigs health wise and to make friends with my same interests.

I have 2 guinea pigs Rolo and Peppermint, Shawna and I used to about 6 on average because we both loved guinea pigs. Due to moving and well issues I ended up only taking 2 although I wish i could have kept another one but I wont go into it. I built my guineas a 3x4 C&C cage and put them on fleece. They love it here and with 2 guineas in such a big cage daily cleanings are fast and easy. I wash their fleece and towels about every 2-3 days so there is no smell.

I don't really post on message boards because I have a hard time expressing myself, but I hope I can find a friendly atmosphere here. As far as I know 3x4 cage which is a 42x 56 can fit 3 guineas comfortably so I am actively looking to add another guinea pig to my family. I recently lost the guinea pig I bonded most with Licorice before moving so my heart is still broken over that, it was really tragic the Vet, Shawna, and I tried everything we could think of to help him. Also Shawna took Pistachio who was the friendliest guinea pig I have ever seen who was so quirky and unique in his own ways. But the past is the past so hopefully I can find a new edition to my guinea pig family with the help of the shelter here In Atlanta.

My biggest fear is running into a thread that Shawna posted on since she never even allowed me to read the message boards, I guess its because she bent the truth in some of her posts but whatever. Well see ya all around and I hope I can make a lot of friends here.

Re: Hey, How are you?

Alright I was gonna leave this alone to avoid things potentially going south but I cannot go to bed and ignore the fact you are still insisting on another guinea pig. Your life is too unstable. It wasn't even 2 days after you got back to GA that you called and asked me if I wanted the guinea pigs. Multiple times since then you have mentioned finding them another home through email and phone with the last of which being no more than a week ago. Do you have a job yet or is your mom paying for their food? Have you found a good vet yet? A guinea pig may live 5+ years. You don't even know for certain what things will be like 4-6months from now. There's also the fact I would imagine you'll be moving back into an apartment or something eventually. What if the only apartment you can find says 3 pigs is too many? I only risked keeping that many pigs in an apartment because I knew I could always temporarily house them in the horse stable until things got sorted out so I would never have to give them up if I moved or got kicked out. You need to consider these things and stop being so impulsive or the animals you keep will suffer in the future.

When you are stable, your life is stable, you have experience caring for the pigs on your own, and you have an income to support them then go ahead and get another pig or 8 if you really find you can care for them but right now it's not a well thought out idea. You probably aren't even certain how much it will cost to feed them because it's hardly been a month since you had to calculate all that on your own. There's a reason for the circumstances surrounding my possesion of Pistachio. I think you should consider that. Just don't play it off as me being selfish but really think about it.

Re: Hey, How are you?

Thanks for saying Hi everyone. As for the other post I wish not to discuss that here as this is a introduction board and not the kitchen. I am only here to seek information about guinea pigs so I can take care of them the best I can. If I would have known it was such a problem to start reading these boards then I would have never even bothered. However, as far as you're concerned you have no right to boss me around now or ever on what I can do.

I sincerely hope that AQH88's post does not give me a bad impression since there are tons of things I could say about her which would get her banned on site and discredit anything she could say, but I wont because I am taking the higher ground.

Anyways this board is very interesting. I already found a use for the Diet& Nutrition section since it my family had Labor Day Dinner yesterday and brought home tons of fruits and veggies just had to cross check some charts and found some new foods I could feed them a few times a week.
