| Re: Newbie She most likely has mites since she came from a pet shop and is biting. Please look over Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig URI and fungus is common too. |

| Re: Newbie Welcome to the forum! The fact that your pig came from the petstore makes it very likely that she is sick, mis sexed or even pregnant. Therefor a vet visit is in order. The vet has to be experienced with guinea pigs any regular vet wont do as they are generally not very knowledgeable on guinea pigs. If she dislikes to be touched it could be that she has mites. Mites is very painful to the pig and being held and petted will be a torture to her. Which could be the reason of her behavior. Have a look here for more information on mites: Guinea Lynx :: Mange Mites Another reason is of course the stress of being in a new house and getting used to you. Try luring her using vegetables. Let her come to you, talk to her softly to comfort her. Getting her a same sexed buddy (Please Adopt) will also help boost her confidence as guinea pigs are social animals. Please read the following website thoroughly on each subject and make sure you adjust anything accordingly: Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig Best of luck and let us know how it went at the vet! |
