I'm new Hi, I'm Shelly and stay at home mom to one pig named Chewy who is about 4 months old and my daughter who is 6 and a bundle of energy. I got Chewy after sadly looisng my dog French-Fry to an Eagle (can you tell my daughter gets the job of naming my pets )I did do some reaserch on guine pigs prior to getting Chewy but like life you can know to much and am always looking to learn more, currently I am looking to make Chewy her own cage and possibly get her a playmate but Im taking my time at doing it so that it will done right the first time and Im letting My daughter help in the design so that may take a while as she is a perfecionist when it comes to Chewy I have never been real good at these introduction posts but I will end off with a prior apology about any spelling, grammar and punction mistakes I may make in posts as I am the first to admit I suck in all three areas.

Re: I'm new Hi and welcome! I'm glad you are thinking about a bigger cage and a friend for Chewy, I assume she is in a pet-store cage currently? One more thing, if you do get her a friend it might be a good idea to double check both their sexes so you don't end up with a pregnant cavy :S

Re: I'm new Welcome here and congrats for your new pet! Great that you think of building your own large enough cage for your cavies (since you want to get another one soon). I assume you are aware of the recommended size and all. I actually thought French-Fry was a cute name. I love names that are a little... not-every-other-pet-owner-has-a-pet-called-like-that

Re: I'm new Piggy Paws, yes currently Chewy is in a petstore cage but its not all that small and she has lots of room but it was never meant to be longterm. My daughters idea is that I build a one and half story cage that comes up from the floor and that is wide enough and long enough for her to get in to with Chewy. I aldreay have some grids from her bookshelfs that are the right size I just have to go but some more and get the coroplast then I will begin the building stage
