Hi everyone

I'm new to posting here although I've been reading this forum for about 4 weeks which is when I got my first piggy. I've posted on the cavymadness site and have read through this one throughly.
I'm the mom of several fur babies as well as a non-fur baby (9 y/0 daughter). I got our first piggy at a Petstore and at the time I didn't know there were rescue piggys. Looking back now I realize how silly it was for me to not think of GP's as an animal that needed rescuing. Both of my dogs and cat are rescues, I'm a vegetarian and have always been aware of issues concering animal rights but somehow this one just missed me.
Anyhow after we got Nutmeg at the petstore I started reading this and other cavy sites and was determined not to get another at a petstore. So a week after buying Nutmeg we found Cinnamon on Craigslist. Her owner was giving her away because she had recently had 2 babies which were boys and they had no room to keep her. So now we have our two girls living happily in a 2x3.5 c&c cage and during the day they have the run of a good sized bathroom for floor time.
I'm working on expanding the cage to a 2x5 but have to get more coroplast first. When we got the coroplast for this cage it was a scrap from a sign shop and they charged me $20.00 for it(too much)! We wanted black coroplast and it was impossible to find..so now I need to order some more and then the girls will get the bigger cage. It's funny how when we made the cage it seemed soooo big but then once you get the piggers in it seems so much smaller!
Anyways I just wanted to say hi and I will try to get pics posted of my piggys later today!

Re: Hi everyone

Many of us made the mistake of buying a petstore guinea pig first. I'm glad to hear you rescued your second.

Re: Hi everyone

So true about when you build the cage that it looks monsterous but once the piggies are in there and you add other stuff it just doesn't seem that big anymore. Especailly when they start to run laps. Welcome.

Re: Hi everyone

Ok I hope these pics work..the grey one is Nutmeg and the other is Cinnamon. They kept running when I tried to get a pic so I had to wait until they were busy munching. We just moved the cage down into the family room last night. They had been up in the guest room (Casa de Guinea) where I could shut the door to keep the dogs out. They are very happy to be among all of the noise and action of the house and have been wheeking at me all morning. My desk is near the cage so they can look at me while I work! It got cold here last night so I put a blanket over the back of the cage to keep them warm..they are just so darn cute!
