Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I've had my guinea pig for about one year. I had two but one passed away due to heatstroke cause I keep my piggies outside where it is windy but hot.So now I have only one. His name is Bruno. But what i find so weird about him is that I got him two female guinea pigs that died due to heatstroke and yet he doesn't seem one bit depressed. He still eats and drinks. Bruno is really fat and he never seems to get full. He is white and black with black and brown spots on his face and he is an abyssinian. There aren't any shelters here or guinea pig rescues here so I had to buy him. People here aren't really interested in guinea pigs. If they were to buy a pet they would rather get a dog. So there aren't an guinea pigs being neglected here. If I could only adopt a guinea pig from a shelter. I'm so sorry. |

Bruno sounds cute - I have an Abby too. Sorry to hear that your other piggies have died. The environment you described (hot and windy) isn't good for guinea pigs, as you have discovered. I'm sure Bruno would love to live inside, and it would be much safer for him. I'm not sure if you can get the materials for a C&C cage in the Philipines, but you could probably make one - maybe wire mesh walls and a plastic sheet for the base. Is Bruno neutured? If he's not, please don't put any more females in with him, as you will end up with a lot of babies! I suggested some places to look for a friend in your other thread. He would probably get along with a baby male, or if you got him neutured, a female. I hope you can find him a friend! Feel free to ask questions - we are here to help |

I'm sure people would say your pigs are neglected if you lost three to heatstroke yet continue to house them outdoors. Losing one to heatstroke should have told you something and either not gotten anymore, or moved them indoors. |

I hope that after losing 3 guinea pigs to heat stroke, you'd consider changing something about the environment in which they live. Please consider bringing your guinea pig inside so he doesn't suffer the same fate. Welcome to the forum. |
