His name is Nikko, and I just practically rescued him from a shelter.

They had the poor guy in a 2 or 3 story wired bar mouse cage. So tiny.

He is not a big piggie himself, but still!

I know that wired bar flooring is not good for them, and he had a really steep ramp. Unfortunaley he was the only piggie there. And he became adoptable yesterday!(You should have seen the HUGE Boa in the same room as him!!!!! In his own cage.. but.. EKKK!!!)

I have a friend that said I could have her old piggie, he is blind and deaf and loves other piggies(including males). His buddies died not too long ago, so he is all alone. They are both male, but we are going to try it anyways.--Don't bash me for that! I don't want to hear it.

Anyways, I will get pictures either tonight or tommarrow!!!! He is so cute!

I don't know much about his temperment yet, but he is very friendly and curious.

He LOVES his orchird grass hay.

Why would someone bash you for doing the right thing and having a buddy for the pig you just adopted. Just make sure you do a 3 week quarantine in separate rooms before introducing them.

Are you going to make a C&C cage? You will need at least a 2x4 for 2 males as they are more territorial.

You won't find that attitude on this site. We encourage everyone to have at least 2 piggies because they are very social.

Congrats. Have you verified that it is a male though? Shelters frequently missex them.

The shelter didn't even know/check.

The person handing Nikko to us held him so we could check. My "friend" is pretty sure Nikko is a male. I will have the owner of the other piggie, that will hopefully be Nikko's new buddy, check Nikko out again to tell.--Maybe I will take him to the petshop as well(we are friends with the owner).

He is a cutie, you should have a vet check him over pkus to sexhim for you, instead of a pet store, just to be 100% sure.

Weight can give you a general idea of how old he is as can looking at his nails. If they are very thin and sharp, he is quite young. Their nails tend to thicken as they get older.

As far as his breed goes, he looks like he's a smooth coated American. Possibly some sort of agouti coloring on part of him. Most importantly he's very cute!

I have only picked him up twice.--Once putting him in his cage, and a second time about 30 minutes ago. I will check his nails.

Wow, I am really happy for your guys. I know how excited you were to care for a pigger. If you want to see him REALLY happy, build him a CC cage. I noticed a big difference with my guy.

Nikko is a beautiful pig. You two will do very well.
