| Hello Hello to All .. I thought I would introduce myself to everyone here. I am a new owner of two male piggies Herbie and Georgie. I will have to admit to you all that they are both store bought. I had wanted to purchase a cavy for myself and so off I went in search of one but after talking to some people at the pet store learned it was better to keep at least two of them. So I purchased them, brought them home and put them in their store bought cage, which after one day occured to me that it was way too small for two little piggies to play in, even given the fact that they had time outside their cage everyday as well. So off I went in search of another, much bigger cage but was unsatisified with any I would find. My next step brought me to the internet where I discovered the C and C cages along with this site. So I have spent this past weekend reading up on all the wonderful information I have found here, and yes I realize I will now open myself up for critiscm for having bought store piggies. (please......don't yell too loud at me, I honestly did not realize ) I made my trip to Target yesterday and bought the cubes and came home and constructed a much larger cage for my two babies, sat back and watched in awe how they ran and jumped and acted crazy for at least a couple of hours and now have plans to add on a second level. I also learned Herbie and Georgie are only allowed ONE carrot per day per piggie no matter how much they wheek at me for more. So tonight we will try zucchini for the first time, they were not big fans of the peppers but I will keep trying them. And early next week they will be having a wellness visit at the Vets. So Thank You all for all the valuable info I have seen posted here and be assured this will be my prefered site for any info I may seek in the future. | Re: Hello Hello and welcome. How long have you had the lil guys? Are you sure they are both males? Pet store pigs are often missexed and have mites and URI. I'd keep a close eye on them. It's good you're taking them to the vet, but some vets aren't knowledgable about guinea pigs. There is a vet list and good care info at Guinea Lynx :: A Medical and Care Guide for Your Guinea Pig More leafy greens are better than fruits and carrots. |

Re: Hello Hi and Thank You for the Welcome ... I have had them exactly one week. The vet I am taking them to specializes in small exotic animals, cavies being one of them. As far as the leafy greens they LOVE romaine and I was going to try green leaf and cilantro as well tonight. Last edited by Percy's Mom : 05-08-07 at 11:33 am. Reason: removing pink

Re: Hello Welcome, it sounds like your piggies are happy with you. I'm glad you put them in a big CC cage. Here is a list that will help you with feeding your piggies. This list will even tell you how often you can feed a certain food item. Please take a moment to read it over and if you have questions, please ask. I'm sure someone will be able to give you an answer. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...arts-info.html

Re: Hello Good for you!! That is just a few different thing you can feed. If you do a forum search on veggies you will find more things to feed. My girls love eating eggplant, squash, peas, beans, yams, zuccini and just about everything else.

Re: Hello Welcome to the website! Don't worry about having bought them at the petstore. I think most people here made that mistake first time (Including myself). The fact your doing research on this website and guinealynx is what counts. I'm sure you will learn loads with your stay here. Please do read the websites thoroughly including the rules and use the search tool to find answers to your questions. If you still can't find what you need feel free to ask! Best of luck making a piggy paradise for your pigs! Can't wait to see pigtures of them! Fay

Re: Hello Very cute pigs! I love the crazy hair. As Fay said, many people started out with pet stores pigs, myself included. Don't beat yourself up too badly - now you know better.
