Hello Everyone!

Good afternoon all! I'm a mom of two guinea pigs, Pig Pig Pig (yes, that is his name!), Spike and of course one sweet little human boy named Zach. We live in Ohio, near Cleveland.

Pig is 3 years old and Spike is a baby whose age I am unsure of (we rescued him last night, he is darrrrling). They instantly took to each other when we very cautiously introduced them (Pig is super friendly so we weren't terribly afraid, but you never know). Pig even shared his ball.

Spike is going to a vet this week to get a check-up to make sure he's a-ok. Hopefully they'll give me an idea of his age, I know he's young, he fits in the palm of my hand! I've attached a picture of Spike that I took this morning (don't worry, I didn't use the flash!), I'm at work so I don't have one of Pig too...I'll get one and post it later. He's a big boy!

You didn't quarantine? Ouch. You should have done the vet check, then 2-3 weeks did the intro.

In retrospect, you're right and I should have known better. I don't know why I didn't think to do that. Luckily, Spike came from a clean home and he was a solo pig for the time that he was there. I'll watch both boys carefully.

I understand what your saying but again it's better to be safe than sorry.

My Oko came from a clean home with no other animals - yet, he still had mites and an ear infection, which turned out to be a $200 vet bill.

2 years later he's better now but I'm glad that I separated him or else I would have doubled that vet bill!

As I sit here kicking myself, I hope that I didn't screw up horribly. I took Spike because the person who bought him was going to take him to the APL and I couldn't bear to see that happen. I called our vet to try to get him in earlier but they didn't have any openings. I did add Pig to the appointment though.

I'll keep a close eye on them!

hello julieann! I just got a baby pig as well, just last week in fact and she took right to my other older pig who was a mother of a baby who passed on some time ago.

Anyways have a great time here! by the way, very cute piggie picture
