Introducing Reeses and Snickers Hello everyone. I want to first take a chance and thank everyone here. Because of all of your pics and posts and forums, I was able to learn soooooo much about the lovely little piggies. I was able to learn how to make a cage properly and what to feed them as well as how to care for them. You have all been such a great help. So, Thanks! My name is Dan and my son and I have taken on the responsibility of caring for two special females...a mom and daughter pair. We rescued them from a foster home through Have-A-Heart. (Thanks Marci and Jane [foster mom] for everything) I have made a C&C cage out of Target supplied cubes. The 6 cube pack was only $15 in the store. Awesome price. The base for the cage is made from some of the Target cubes and then I have the coroplast sut to slightly larger than the size of the cage, then there's newspaper, a towel and then the Wal-Mart supplied felt. My son, Patrick picked out the pattern. I think he did a great job. I decided to use felt on the bottom for ease of cleaning and so it's not so messy. The hideouts and their beds are made from coroplast and they really like to lay in them and hide in the hideout also. I made the ramp out of two cage sections that I bent and then placed coroplast on top and then felt. I placed it at a slight sideways angle so they can pretty much run around the sides of the cage. I placed the upper level halfway up from the lower level. This way the ramp did not have to be as steep or too long and they like it under there because it may feel like a little hideout to them. The upper level of the cage is their food area. I have placed down a handtowel as the base. On top of the towel, I have a cookie sheet that is covered by another hand towel. This one sits under the hay loft and makes cleaning so much easier. I place their food bowl and water bottle up in the loft also. This keeps the felt on the bottom sooooo clean...except for the little pill presents they leave around. My son also didn't want them to be bored so we purchased a supply of cat toys that they like to carry around and roll around the cage.I tried and design the cage so it was fun for them as well as easy to get them out of the cage as well as easy to clean. It seems to be working really well so far. The following are the pics of the cage as well as our girls...Reeses(mom) and Snickers(daughter). http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...d=117560849 5 Here's a pic of the cage. The top left part opens up as well as the front roof part of the bottom level. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...d=117560849 5 Here's our two girls. Snickers is on the left and Reese is on the right. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...d=117560849 5 Here's an example of their breakfast this morning. They eat better than I do. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...d=117560849 5 Here's the first floor right side of the cage. I have their two beds and their hideout as well as lots of little toys for them to play with. Because my son says they need to have fun. http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...d=117560849 5 Here's the ramp I built that leads up to their food loft. They love running up and down it while I'm cleaning out the upper level. They keep checking to see when I'm done up there and when there's more food. We've only had them since Saturday, but they are a real joy. We love them very much. Please feel free to let me know what you like or don't like about the setup and cage. Thanks.

Re: Introducing Reeses and Snickers Wonderful cage. The only problem I see is that they will probably kick out the poop since it has no sides. That may not be a problem to you though. Nice pigs and congrats on doing your research and adopting instead of buying.

Re: Introducing Reeses and Snickers I would agree with you that may be an issue, but it seems like they prefer to got potty on the upper level or in the hideout or their beds which is nice for me because they are all areas enclosed by the coroplast. They like to take it easy on me.
